How many bikes have you purchased in the last year? Do you resell them? How many do you currently own? I used to know what you ride but now it's a different bike every time you post...

When is the last time you bought a bike at a department store? Do you still advise shoppers to buy bikes from Walmart, Target, etc.? It doesn't look like you've gone that route recently. Do you still ride the famous Schwinn that got you back into riding?

Your right, I have bought a lot of bikes over the last year. Some I never even posted about. Craigslist around here is
slim pickens most of the time, but if you really do not need one and watch it everyday, you can find a good deal from
time to time. Have 4 bikes right now, not counting the kids. The Giant Rincon which is really growing on me, I love
it, seems just right for my riding style. A Giant ATX 860, Trek 3700, and of course my Schwinn. Still would be the
bike I would choose if I could only have one, but the one in the video is my go to bike now, with some more miles
could take the Schwinn's place as number one. I do re-sale them, but not for profit, only what I paid for it, and any parts,
and sometimes add some for labor if I put a lot of time in working on it. Unless something changes, I will only keep
2, the one in the video, and the Schwinn, also I no longer watch Craigslist, so I do not see me buying another
anytime soon, and I really like the 2 that I mentioned. If I were going farther than 15 miles I would take the Schwinn.
I never really was pushing Big Box Store Bikes, just saying there were a ( couple) decent models for people on a tight
budget and needed a bike. Most of the stuff on Craigslist around here is junk, or way over priced. I would buy from a
LBS, just nothing really caught my eye enough to buy new, except the Giant Roam, and it was going to be 4 months before
they could get a large. Bike update ( LOL ) Richard

As one of the old timers here on bike forums said during one of those heated threads on, ( What is a Hybrid ) .
It is not how it is marketed that defines a Hybrid, But how you ride it . The Giant Rincon is so close to the
Giant Roam 1 which is sold as a Hybrid, ( that I would have bought one new ), if it was not going to take 4 months
to get it. I have gone through a lot of bikes, and test rode many at the bike shops to find the perfect one for me.
I am one of those that really need a do it all in one bike, because a normal ride for me would be 1/2 road,
and 1/2 non groomed sometimes rough trails. Not being a huge fan of road riding, but hate loading the bike
into the car to go to some MTB park, waste of time and gas, when I have better trails right around the house.
I ride faster on the road on the Giant even with those 26 x 2" Bontragers, than I do on the 700 x 38c Kendra's
on the Schwinn. But am finding that the little more aggressive riding position of the Giant is not effecting me
much on comfort, but not quite sold on a 30 mile ride on it over the Schwinn. ( YET ), and as far as off road,
you can not even compare the two. That's my lie and I'm sticking to it, ( Laugh ) Richard : )

Good looking bike Richard,

The geometry reminds me of my Cannondale Ultra CX. That keeps you in a much more upright position.

So when are you going to put some hybrid tires on it? That bike is begging for some Specialized Borough XC tires...

Mike...

To a very Happy new owner who was a little smaller than me. It was a medium, and the Giant is a large, there is
so much difference in the bike fit though, I really liked that bike, just was to small. Richard : )

Mike...

The Cannondale Ultra is a sweet bike, rode one at the bike shop, and had a F4, SuperFatty DL 80 HeadShok, ( nice ),
I have a set of tires that look very close to those, Kendra Kwicks. Those Bontrager Connection Trails I have on it now
are pretty fast on the road. Here is a short video of them on the Trek.
might have to wear them out first. Richard : )

Overkill

This isn't my bike, just one I stumbled across on CL.
Seems to have a killer amount of suspension for a commuter.

LOL, giantcfr1! I've looked at your bike many times... SWEEEEEET Ride! Those red accents are Killer!

I have a problem with buying accessories for my BBU... every time the weight of the bike drops below 30lbs, I buy something that puts it right back at 30lbs... which I don't mind because it still works well for solid "B Group" cycling, but at the same time, damn, that's heavy! What is yours weighing? I need to put some serious thought into getting this thing back down to 25lbs... of course, the insane tactical light & battery delete would probably cure 3lbs...

I was just wondering that myself today. I know it's heavy (really heavy) so never bothered to weigh it. I should be at my client's bike shop tomorrow morning so I'll weigh it as is. I'm not rockin' any "light weight" (other than an ultegra rear deraileur) gear so it'll be an interesting comparision. BTW what levers are you using?
Oh, can you please weigh yours without the bottles, saddle bag and tactical light / battery?

I love the bike..Blacked out is the way to go. What size tires are you running on that rig? I was going to go with a 700x25 on my hybrid but the guy at the LBS didn't recomend going smaller than 28.
