Welcome to BikeForums, obdon. Do you have reflective material on your rims, crankarm, etc. or is that just a trick of the light?

I wish I had $100 to spend on a saddle, this white Arione would look great on my MTB.

My gosh that is hot. Many of my friends here (including the guy I got my saddle from) uses the Arione.

Team saddle for "Leaky Gas" though? Skid marks would show on the white.

My butt hurt when I rode 83 miles of dirt road last week on that cheap stock WTB Vigo seat. I lean it against brick walls all the time but the damn things barely scuffed. Cheap vinyl cover still looks brand new except for a slight abrasion at the edge under the nose. I'm not going to replace it until I need to...

$90 off...

My friend Iwa****a San's helps hide a leaky front end.

Sadly Bike forums isn't Japanese name friendly.

Thanks qmsdc15. Yes it's reflective tape. Did a little research and chose SOLAS 3150-A. I'm preparing for night riding just around the neighborhood. I got a little red light for the back and I'll just strap a flashlight up front for now. Eventually I'll get a reflective sweatshirt. Here's another pic:

Here's my new knockoff Giant bar ends (after). The painted on logo was blurry and rubbed right off so I cleaned them up. Also, literally tacky until I rubbed them down with a paper towel. They're decent, $16 shipped from China, I'll give them to my son. I can't wait for my Ergons.

just picked this up off craigslist. Jamis Aragon. I think it's a 2002 but it looks like it had only been ridden a few times. I'll leave it as is until i get a few miles under my belt and then decide if i need to change anything. I will say after riding it a few miles I really don't like the suspension seatpost. It just feels strange. I guessing if i do anything to the bike it will be a new seatpost, saddle, fenders, bar ends and bags.

Dabird, I was thinking of getting one of those seat posts. , now that you mention it, if the post compresses, then your geometry is all off. Good heads up for any one else. For that matter, I haven't liked any full suspension bike either because all your effort gets wasted on the spring. Maybe a $2000 suspension bike rides better?

Wink

The bike is a GT Nomad Sport, ladies version, 2010 model.

I finally got a bike, went with a hybrid because I'll mostly be riding bike paths. I've been looking for something cheap for a few months, I finally decided to go with "new" (but not super cheap like ***Mart) because the whole used thing just wasn't working out for me due to my size and not knowing enough about bikes to know if something is "good.") Did some research, narrowed it down to a few bikes that were local and sorta in my budget, and finally found that one on sale. It's not the Trek FX I was lusting after (although I do like this one's color better) but I think it'll do to get me back riding again (I haven't ridden in about 20 years.) It fits pretty well (it's an XS and I had to order it) easy to steer, shift, etc. Looks pretty durable, pretty good components for what I paid for it (Alivio on the back, generic Shimano SIS on the front.) So I'm happy I can finally RIDE instead of just looking at pictures and videos and sulking.

I'm sure i would get used to it but to me it feels like the whole bike is flexing underneath me when the seat compresses. It's just a weird feeling that i don't like.

Mine is a single speed hybrid, built it myself and it is my favorite bike by far. It now has 700c tires on it and different fork.

Here's some pics of my 2010 Marin San Rafael (second verse)

Well let's see if these photos uploaded any better than the last dozen or so tries.

Leaning against a little cypress sapling

The cockpit with new Ergon grips

Ready to go

Looks like they worked, man that's hard for a low tech guy.

The chain is there, it is a camouflaged single speed chain. Actually I didn’t put it on yet, was so giddy about my build and needed to take show off photos. I always wanted to paint my jeep o.d. green and figured this would be cheaper. Even had the cannondale letters and Air Force front emblem made. The bike was my first purchase in 99.

Nice. So let's see it with the new fork and 700c wheels.

My main ride is a '98 H300. About halfway through a long ride last Saturday.
