Ride to the beach yesterday.. Loving my new Panaracer T-Serve tires!! Lighter, less rolling resistance and nicer looking Slightly rougher ride at the high PSI, BUT so worth it!!

Thanks, it is a great bike to ride. I put many miles on it weekly and so far haven't had anything to bad go wrong. Sometimes I do wish it was a little lighter, or had better components.. But then I remember what I paid for it, and for the money I don't think you could go wrong. I changed the tires (less resistance, slightly lighter), clipless pedals are still waiting to go on, but other then that I just ride (80-100 miles a week.. give or take)

Here's a picture of my bike yesterday before I headed out for a 55 mile ride (approx. 10 miles unpaved) with a couple new accessories.



The fenders are made by SKS, and I still have to tinker with the fit a little more. Overall, they seem like they will do their job and don't look too bad either. I don't ride in wet weather too often, but they will be nice if I get caught out in the rain. They're also very useful for the unpaved portions of the trail that horses tend to be ridden on (think large piles of #2). The one time you're not paying attention is the time you'll end up with poo all over your bike and possibly your back--no thanks!

I also added the Profile Design Aqua Rack. I needed to carry more water with me for longer rides, and this looked like it would do the trick. The problem is that I dropped a bottle within 3 miles from where I started after going over a very large bump (a water drainage channel). It wasn't an issue when the bottles were empty. I'm going to try and use a couple of "gear wraps" to hold them in place. I need to carry more water, so I'll make this work one way or another.

All in all, my bike is looking rather "gadgety" as my fiancee calls it. While I agree, everything does have its purpose.

Just picked up my 2013 Trek 7.2 this week. Finally took it out for the first ride yesterday around the neighborhood paths. Except for the rear spokes popping and clicking some, it's amazing. I love riding it. Flat black was a no brainer for me, as i didnt like the blue option. The red on black just "pops".

I was riding my Cannondale Mtn bike on the paved trails and decided it was time to get something more road friendly. All I've added so far was a bottle and cage. Next will be either bar ends or a Cateye micro wireless. I have a funny feeling some sort of rack will be eventually purchased too Looking for any excuse to go ride....I wonder how long it would take me to bike to work.... hmmmm...

What bag, bar ends and computer did you put on?

Ha, I was overly excited to find the exact color match with the cages. The bag is a Timbuk2, which is perfect size for holding a tube, CO2, levers, and my phone. I added the Bontrager bar ends for more positions to stop my hands from going numb. They work great for that purpose and are really helpful on climbs. I ended up with a Knog computer, and I love the easy attachment/overall simplicity. It tells me exactly what I want to know and is easy to navigate through the different settings.

By the way, the red accents on your bike really do look sharp.

BTW did you have any spoke noise when first riding it?

I haven't had any spoke noise on mine. The reflectors were rattling around, but I removed those.

If you can actually hear spoke issues, you better get it fixed before you put another 100 yards on it. Depending on the problem you could end up with ruined wheels or worse.

Nice rides ViciousV and Boingobongo. I bought my Cannondale Quick 4 last month and the 7.2 fx was my other top choice. My LSB carries Trek and Cannondale and after riding them both I took about 15 minutes comparing them side by side. I was looking at the black/red one and I must say that after seeing your pictures I still like that flat black.

Igo, Yikes! Just got back from a ride. LBS told me it was normal to hear spoke noise as it was a new, out of the box build. I called them cuz I felt it wasn't right. Is there such a thing as spokes needing to "seat"?

Another benefit of the flat black is it will touch up nice with a black sharpie. Lol

What they say is probably right. After a few weeks of riding, the noise should be gone. Check if the wheel is true, and if not get them to straighten it out. Not a big deal. When I had my wheels built, I had a few small sharp noises like a `ping` but they settled quickly.

I don't know what your experience level is, ViciousV, but since I'm new to the sport I took my bike in for a tune up after 4 weeks (200 miles). It might be something to consider if for no other reason than to put your mind at ease.

Can you describe the spoke noise?

I don't know about spokes but I know about basic physical properties. I could be wrong but if they are so far out that you can actually hear them seating then my guess is they won't seat. Anyway, my guess is that if they are seating them you wouldn't hear any more than one tiny "tink" per spoke if you heard anything at all. And against an inflated tube against a rim liner it would be almost impossible to hear one seat if they have a detente to fall into at all. And again, you would hear more than a couple dozen "tinks" before the "tink" noises went away.

Wicked looking machine!! Now tell me, the cassette you have on the bike, that is not the STOCK unit is it?? Something slick looking like your bike usually comes with a tiny 12-25 or 26 cassette!! ENJOY!

Cassette is actually stock: SRAM PG1050 11-32T but I didn't like the SL-700 shifter. What's there are SRAM doubletaps.
