Looks like Diamondback has dropped the Insight 3 for 2013. Though they did add a hybrid line geared towards Triathletes called Interval. It's basically a flat bar road bike. Looks sweet.

Does the bottom "rack" actually hold the bike off the floor, or just keep it standing upright?

All you need is some strong drywall screw (no wall studs for where I wanted to mount them), 2x4, and a couple of $2 closet rod holders!

Yes, the bottom rack is holding the bike 1.5 inches off the ground. Hard to see in the picture.

Not trying to hate on your method, but no screw will hold in drywall with a load on it like that. At the very minimum I would suggest hollow wall anchors if anyone else wants to make a similar rack. However even the hollow wall anchors holding our towel bars in the bathroom have loosened up over time. Best bet is to attach a piece of 3/4" plywood to the wall spanning 2 or 3 studs, and then attach your closet rod holders to that.

Sorry, I was replying vaguely. I agree that no screw will hold the bikes up. I used WingIts wall anchors attached to the 2x4, and then regular screws to attach the closet rod holders on to the 2x4 itself, just like you suggested. It will handle a 26lbs bike no problem.

Hi I am new here this is my first post.

First here is my old bike. I bought it then realized that it was too small for me. So I sold it to my brother and it fits him perfectly. Great bike I put a lot of miles on it but sadly it was the wrong size.

Now this is my new baby. Love this color scheme more than the old one but the most important thing is that it fits me like a glove and I am very happy with it. I bought literally the last 2012 model they had on the shelf so you can't get these anymore here. I really can't stand how the frame looks on the 2013 models so I am glad I snagged it when I did.

Here is my Trek 7.4FX. I just changed from the original, and horrible (IMHO) saddle to a Bontrager Commuter Gel saddle - incredible difference!

About 3 1/2 weeks, but it was hurting both my butt and lower back muscles. The latter was quite frightening as I had spine surgery 2 1/2 years ago and I'm very careful of anything involving the lower back. I've been doing very, very well and want to keep it that way.

Took a 16 mile beautiful ride of back roads yesterday and the new saddle was great -very comfortable with no pains of any kind, and after a while I didn't even notice it.

Glad you're OK with the stock saddle.

well, my old homebrew hybrid died in a car crash, it was on a front hitch rack on our E150, towing our tent trailer home, and we had a messy wreck due to a tire blowout... totaled the van, the tent trailer, both our hybrids, and my right foot broke the #5 metatarsal.... JUST got done with cast and boot yesterday, so I'm raring to start riding again... To replace my homebrew hybrid, I found the following gem on fleabay, as a brand new dealer demo for cheap. They made exactly the bike I was trying to build from junk, muahahah!

mods to date... Wellgo 'pin' platform pedals. Ergon GP3 grips. Incredibell (came with a 'ding' but it was weak sauce). PlanetBike 2W LED headlight (still need a red blinky for back). Straight bars off my old bike (about the only part that wasn't bent, crushed, or destroyed... the stock risers were just too high for me).

mods pending: longer stem? finish fine tuning bar height, and cut off steerer tube so I don't need spacers on top. rack. water bottle.

Your bike reminds me of an old SE racing quadangle bmx bike only grown up and classier the brooks springer saddle really sets it off. Anyhow I was wondering what kind of stem that is? I just bought a hybrid and honestly have only ever really ridden bmx bikes. I am trying to find a stem that is comfortable as I'm not so used to the hunched over riding position of road bikes just yet.

I see cantilever/vbrake braze-ons those forks.. I'd lose that funky sidepull brake and install cantis or vbrakes (but do note, vbrakes require long pull levers)

It's a 26 to 700c conversion. Looks kick ass doesn't it.

You do indeed see canti brazeons for the original 26" wheelset, I actually have a plan for those posts and I will post pics of that after it's done. I have no intentions of ditching the sidepull calipers, with the canti levers braking is awesome.

Second day on the road, up to 25 miles so far on this bike. This pic is on the west side of Elliott Bay looking at the Seattle skyline. A nice bike trail goes all along the perimeter of the bay, mostly next to the water.
