It's not really paint. It's truck bed liner. It's durable and has a great look. And no, I didn't use primer. The bed liner sticks to almost anything and the bond is very strong.

Can you tell us about the European Specs? It looks the same is the ones that were sold here.
The reason I ask is because the frame doesn't look like the Euro Bad Boy from back then.

I bought my bad boy from a guy who got it from a Swiss dealer, Based on the serial no, mine seems like a 2007 model, although the specs are more 2006.

Cannondale offered several Bad boy models in their European lineup, more than what they offered the US one.

On the same model, the main difference between the US and European models were in the components.

For Example the rims were Sunn vs Mavic, RD was SRAM X9 vs X7 and list goes.

I had a look at the catalogs as you linked and see exactly what you mean. Maybe it's the picture but what I was trying to see was the rear drop on the frame. You've got a great bike there. It's a pity the components these days are so low level. I guess that reflects in the low price these days though, of the BadBoys.

The market for components has gotten so segmented propelled by heavy consumerism and fierce competition for market share.

Having lots of nostalgia for early 90s components, I try to build my projects around them...

Back in 2009, when i was in the market for a Bad Boy, i read somewhere that Cannondale shifted their production line overseas, not that China is no good... I have few of the Giant CADEX bikes and they are superb bikes.

I can see that you are in Japan, That is a another place with great Bike names such as Miyata-another one of my favorites-.

I am glad they are back in the game making steel road and touring bikes.

So the Globe I recently built (see above posts) is gone. I ended up selling it and my Ridley is for sale so I could consolidate to one "do it all" bike. With all the hours I work I really don't have time for two bikes so I thought it would be better to sell the two I have and just have one.

I suppose I could have kept the Ridley but I really want to have disc brakes and I couldn't feel comfortable riding an expensive bike down to the store and locking it up outside. I ended up picking up a Specialized Secteur Sport disc and doing a flat bar conversion on it. I took most of the components from the Ridley and installed them on the Secteur but I still need to replace the wheels, tires, and the brakes to hydraulic.

Stock the Secteur was 22.9 lbs (size 56cm) and after swapping out to the higher end components it's 21.4. Once it's done I'm hoping it will be sub 20 lbs. I think the result is pretty cool and it's very comfortable.

Sorry for the quick and dirty cell phone pic. I'll take some better one's over the weekend.

so that's a spray can job? how easy it is to work with the bedliner spray? I've worked with rustoleum sray and I always seem to get puddles and drip lines.

Yes, just a rattle can spray job. It's fairly easy to work with but that being said, I used to do custom paint on Ducati motorcycles so I have a little experience.

If you want to avoid runs/drips just take your time and do several light coats with the can about 12"-14" from the item you are painting. Try and keep the tip an even distance from the item and sweep past the item. In other words, do stop the spray on the item.

In addition, you may also want to consider cleaning the spray nozzle if there’s a long delay between coats. See paint can for instructions or hold the can upside down and spray until nozzle is clear of paint. Cleaning the nozzle can help reduce the likelihood of a clogged head which spits paint instead of applying it uniformly.

Finally got a rear rack so I can start riding my bike to the grocery store every once in while. Also got the Topeak TrolleyTote folding basket for it, but didn't get a pic with it on.

I picked up this GT ZuM off craigslist for cheap. I had a brooks saddle and thompson seatpost in my parts bin. All in all a comfy little ride. I really like the single front chain ring and lack of derailleur.

Hello. Nice bike. Is there any chance that you would like to review it? I am interested in the Trek DS series but can't find any one who actually OWNS one. I'm particularly interested in how you find it for trails and if the wheels are strong.

Hold on. You might be right actually. Many people seem to compare them to other bikes like Giant, Specialized etc. but other than stevenlsmith87 and zerogravity, maybe not many people settle on them. (I was jumping the gun sorry)

And THAT might just be the most telling piece of information right there, although I'd have to dig through the threads. If they aren't buying them because they are "too MTB-like" that would make it perfect for what I'm looking for! If they aren't buying them because the are junk..... well...

I might just add though, our member zerogravity has maybe a 3 year old model which he loved EXCEPT he was disappointed with the suspension forks. He was a strong guy and frequented single tracks and trails. The forks seemed to be a constant concern for him. Although he bought it as a duel sport, I think he may have needed a proper MTB for his uses. Hope this helps.

EDIT...I noticed in your other thread about your requirements. I know this may seem left field, but how about a Rigid FAT TYRED Gary Fisher Sawyer?
