Yes, those are only brake levers; they are not integrated brakes/shifters. I went with this setup because I wanted to use the parts I already had.

My wife and I have a Burley Bee for our daughter. They're great carriers. I've tried the cheaper ones before; comparatively, you can't even tell the Burley is behind you. We each pull it with our hybrids.

Hey, first poster here!

Got myself a hybrid yesterday, my first proper bike in too many years. Not the best or lightest hybrid out there but my first impression is good, the only thing that keeps me from riding is work. With proper maintenance I figure can have this ride for years to come

I purchased this 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1 at the end of May 2014, and am currently doing right at 100 miles per week on smooth roads, rough roads, MUP paths, and a few dirt trails. During the week, I ride in the late evening into the darkness, so have lighting on the bike. I was cleaning and lubing the drivetrain after my ride today (I used a dry lube the last time, and am now trying a wet lube to see how that works out). The bike rolls on Fuji's proprietary Vera Corsa 700c wheels and Vera CityWide 700x32 tires that, to be honest, I really like. I decided to give it a complete wash and used a little detailing spray to make it shine. I thought it might be a good idea to post some pics of the additions to aid in my rides, some of the illumination I use, and just some general pics in case others looking to add/subtract from their bikes can see what works for me.

2013 Jamis Allegro Elite

Not so much a hybrid - more like what Jamis calls a "fitness bike" and what some others would term a "flat-bar road bike" - at any rate this is the bike that got me back into cycling after a long absence of 25+ years. Why Jamis, you might ask? The closest LBS to me is a Jamis dealer, as well as Bianchi, but after looking at both their offerings this model stood out for several reasons. Jamis bikes tend to be less expensive than the bigger name brands - not lower quality, but they're a smaller company that doesn't spend a lot on advertising and overhead - so you get more bang for the buck from Jamis. And it came with caliper brakes. Call me old school if you want but I just can't see putting hydraulic disk brakes on a bicycle.

Remaining stock components: 21-inch 6061 aluminum frame; carbon composite fork; Shimano Tiagra 4600 shifters and derailleurs; Tektro RX1 brakes and levers; Shimano 12-30T cassette; Shimano R500 wheels; NVO TM-3 120mm stem.

Stuff I've swapped out or added: Shimano CX50 36/46T crankset; Shimano BB4600 bottom bracket; Shimano A530 SPD pedals; Fizik Arione Kium saddle; Thomson Elite setback seat post; Continental Gator Hardshell 700x28C tires; eXotic Scandium handlebar; Procraft iGrip Evo bar ends; Cateye CC-RD420DW computer; Ibera BC5 bottle cages.

Nothing left to do to this bike but enjoy it and maintain it at this point, which I have been doing! The switch to the CX50 cyclocross crankset made a dramatic improvement to the gearing. While I lost a little off the top and bottom ends, I gained a lot more use out of the big chain wheel.

That is a sweet bike with a lot of nice touches. Me personally, I would have gone with tighter spacing on the cassette and used a standard compact double 50/34 or 53/39 up front--but I don't do a whole lot of climbing.

Nice! I have the same bike, only stock. Purchased it new in February of 95. Still rides like the day I brought it home.

Thanks! Actually it came with a 50/34 crankset but I didn't like the gear spacing while on the 50. I ran a lot of numbers with Mike Sherman's calculator including different cassette options (which certainly would have been cheaper), but when I tried it with the 46/36 setup I liked what I saw and thankfully it works beautifully.

I think this is a great looking bike. I'd finish it off with a Thomson seat clamp and stem. Without though, it still looks hot. Congratulations on a nicely detailed bike.

ebay 1982 or 83 univega alpina uno, triple butted frame. the black chrome finish is not so good but the structural condition is very good, just some stone pits on the front tube. sun cr-18 rims and sapim racer spokes, nashbar city tires, sram 8 speed, when all is said and done 26lbs. normal vbakes operated backwards, they spring into the rim instead of out. the hole for the spring was on the outside not on the wheel side of the frame. i had a set of vbrakes that had 2 holes for the coil spring 180 degrees apart that solved the problem.
