Trek 7.5 FX - 2007. That was my template for my current custom hybrid. The frame is great! And the carbon-fork is holding-up well. Candy-Apple Red - I wish I could change the color to match my mirth and mood.

thanks for the compliments The Magura's are season 2009 models with the new (far easier) setup and brake booster. I had them on my first mountain bike (in neonyellow) and love their handling, don't care about the 200-300 grams extra. Well the drivetrain is a compact and mountain cassette with medium caged derailleur. I have to ride up/down hill in my commute (Zürich can be hilly) and need the large range this system offers. Saddle has now replaced by a black and white one and the pedals are now eggbeaters.
Tires Marathon Racers @ 35 mm. Very happy with it now

DO NOT get a Trek 2010 lifestyle catalog! I was kinda silently thinking my next bike might be a 7.3 fx, but after looking at the catalog I'm having serious wishes for a 7.9 fx!

Here is my Jamis Coda Sport hybrid I recently purchased. Been a great ride and I'm very happy with the purchase. I pulled the heavy suspension seatpost and cheap saddle and installed a Sette APX carbon post I had laying around and a Charge Spoon saddle. I also added Ergon grips to give me more hand positions.

This is my Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra. I just picked it up last weekend and took my first long ride with it yesterday. It looks like it weighs a ton but when you ride it it feels really light and nimble. I absolutely love this bike.

That 7.9 is a sweet assed ride save for those wheels... hasn't Trek abandoned using those for 2010 ?

good question, I've always been told the FX's best upgrade would be wheels.

I know Trek is abandoning paired spoke wheels due to far too many issues with them... I'd like to see what they are going to offer on the 2010 7.9 FX and cannot see them keeping them on their flagship performance hybrid.

According to the 2010 catalog, no more paired spokes... the wheels are "Bontrager Race." They seem to be white with a HUGE "Bontrager" across them (also the tires, really detracts from the look of the bike).

Horrible photo, my apologies. Gotta get the rear brake functional, do something about that totally smooth rear tire (it rains a LOT here, I'll die) and maybe swap out the evil MTB front tire.

Thanks shOOk. I kinda miss the clean lines of the base bike without all the add-ons (especially after looking at your new bike! and others on here that are lean and mean), but it's the only bike I have right now so it has to be a jack of all trades. For all the utility though it still gives me (semi)quick rides out in the country for exercise, so I'm very happy with it.

There is nothing wrong with slicks in the rain... the tread compound is more critical for riding in the rain and colder weather.

tread compound? We call this the Wet Coast for a reason eh? So what's your recommendation 65er? (I was waiting impatiently for you to show up) keep the weird rear tire, get the same for the front? You think it can have a rear rack and fenders, too? It's (as far as I can tell) an M4.5 Savage.

I really like Schwalbe Marathons, (which do have a little tread), because they hook up so well in the rain, roll fast, and are nearly bulletproof. They are worth the money you would spend on them.

If you look at the tread on a Marathon you will see that the center of the tyre works like a slick and the same is true for the Schwalbe Hurricane, a tyre I would heartily recommend for a great all round tyre.

I have been running a set of these for about 10,000 km on every kind of surface including ice and snow and they still look like new... I have had one flat in all those km that was caused by a tube failure.

Some tyres do not work well in colder / wetter temps as the rubber hardens up and the tyres can get skippy, Schwalbe uses tyre compounds that remain supple in these conditions on many of their tyres.

I think it's a bontrager (sp) on the back, it cost $20 including labour, lol, that's insanely cheap, is it a bad tire I shouldn't use? I could just get a matching one for the front. I love the tires on my Asama, never had a flat yet and I've gone over broken glass by accident, over curbs, ugly gravel, 10th ave etc, no probs.
