Sorry I skipped over this without responding. It's unlikely he would have survived with of without a helmet. Styrofoam only can do so much. I'm sorry your friend's life was cut short. We should all wear helmets, but a helmet is unlikely to change the outcome of a truck/bike collision. Everybody take extra care out there. Like most sports, cycling can improve your physical condition and it can result in injury. A double edged sword, stay on the edge, so it can't come at you.

There were between 3 or 4 times as many messengers here in DC in '85 than there are now. I don't really think the percentage who wear helmets has changed much. The number who don't use brakes has increased from zero, one, two to many more than that. I don't really notice how many, it seems sketchy, but it's not my business. I just don't want you to think your friend died for want of a helmet, it probably wasn't a factor in that tragic outcome.

Here I am a fourth of the way into my first metric - today. The trunk cover looks sloppy since I had just taken the camera out. So much for the clean looking 7.6FX. I used the trunk to carry spare water, camera and calorie supplies. The saddle bag is for shorter rides.

I just like to see older people who have taken care of themselves, as I am rapidly becoming an older person myself. Give him props, he looks good to you too, doesn't he?

And, here I thought that the only people who appreciated me were Grandma, and the two Grandaughters...... LOL
And the thing I like the most about these Grocery Panniers
They fold almost completely flat when not in use. Monkey balls, front and back tie the two together, pulling them even tighter, and I catch the forward corner (bottom) with the shock cord mount to pull them tighter to the frame.

Great photos Wanderer! What part of the yard do you hide the Wing in?

The Wing is in the garage, hiding in the shade...... right next to the Wing's trailer (which it pulls.)

Seriously Wanderer, that is a great yard and landscaping. Nice work. Has Scotts contacted you about doing a TV commercial ?

We have had a lot of rain this summer - by now, my yard is usually yellow/white.
The sweet corn was spectacular!

I grew my hair for 3 years... it was down to the upper/middle area of my back... then i cut it off..........
after i cut it off, i would put on a shirt, or a coat, or even a backpack, and then attempt to pull my long hair out.... LOLOL... i had grown so used to it.....
i miss it sometimes....
