We did a full day of biking, 4 children and me.

We rode as a pack for about a 4 mile loop, then the die hard ones, keep GOING ! Camera
girl and my son..Here is a couple of short videos of the day....Camera crew made a couple of mistakes on wording, but my son and me were jamming !! 35.6 MPH on the down hill....
I had lost the draft on the flats, and when we passed my daughter we were doing maybe
25 MPH or so, but caught up to him after the video, it is out of site... I SWEAR !
..He has become a beast on the flats, Maybe he got a little scared on the down hill... ( Right ) Here is the camera crew,
and she is ( A ) awesome rider, never Gives up !
.. and they all really love biking, but some more than
others....Biking is the ( BEST ) Richard

It was a nice 27 degrees in Northwest Indiana this morning. I started out at the new extension to the Erie-Lackawana Bike Trail at 93rd Avenue in Crown Point towards the historic square. This extension opened up this month and was over 10 years in the making to finally link up the E-L to downtown Crown Point.

The new bridge on the extension over the Beaver Dam Ditch.

This is the old Lake County Court House, built in 1880. It was almost turned into a parking lot in the early 70's, but fortunately was saved. Crown Point was also known as a "Marriage Mill" as there were no waiting period for licenses. Rudolph Valentino and Joe Jackson (father of Jackson 5) were married here.

This is the original Lake County Jail that John Dillinger escaped from in 1934 and also stolled the Sherrif's brand new car. Johnny Depp was here in 2008 to film a reinactment of the "famous" escape for Public Enemies.

The turn around point of my ride was the historic Lake County Fairgrounds on the south end of time. Indiana is known for it's covered bridges. The fairgrounds has it's own covered bridge that was built in 1878 in Rush County in Southern Indiana and moved here in 1933.

It's starting to lose that new bike smell. For a long time it seemed to be maintenance free. I have not touched the hydraulic disc brakes, after over a thousand miles, they still feel like new! Awesome, I don't ever want to use rim brakes again. But minor problems cropping up. The absence of mechanical down time has been wonderful though!

Yes, thanks to Wanderer always telling eveyone to get fenders, I put that one on. It's something I've had but didn't use much. It slides into a bracket that hides under the fork bridge. I had the bracket on my Kona. I used to leave the fender off when it wasn't raining, but I always forgot to put in on when it was raining! I leave it on all the time now. Thanks Wanderer! Stop being a stranger!

21 days in a row ! GOD it is Cold ! But ( I LOVE IT ! ), going to start looking for good winter riding cloths, I'm
sure there out there..( The colder it gets, the more I am riding ! ) I want to invest in good warm riding gear,
that's not so bulky...Richard ( Going to be my Christmas gift )

I love Kyoto! I was there as part of a business trip in 2002 (Kameoke) and wanted to go back since then. But not sure if I would dare to ride a bike there, I am very bad with directions and got lost almost every day during my visit :-)
Thnaks for sharing the pictures, nice ones!!!!

Thankyou, I'm glad you liked them. Kyoto is a little bit tricky at the beginning but soon once you establish North, you quickly work it out. Being at Kameoka, I guess you did the boat ride down to Arashiyama? It's lovely around there too.

Well, we strapped a new "pogo stick" to the rear rack of my bike and headed off to the Grandaughters, it never got near the 48 F, the weather guessers said it would, (burrrrrrrrr), still our faithful road hybrids glided thru the cold, with the lights blinking white and red, (where did all this FOG come from!!!!), we delivered the presents to the Grandaughter and wished her a Merry Christmas! Then headed to the LBS, where I got a nice set of "full fenders" put on the Wife's bike, (got them with funds given to ME for ME for Christmas, gota get in the points, whenever possible!) after finding a nice set of upgrade, "new to me wheels" for my road hybrid and putting them on layaway, we headed out for hot coco and a excellent cherry dainish! We made our way home, then walked down to the local book store to let her spend her gift card and had a really great burger and fries at the Black Bear Cafe, I just LOVE a BROWN Christmas!! Happy Holidays! BTW, 20 miles total.

My hybrid took me to the market today... it was not as busy as I expected and everyone seemed to be in good cheer and the extra weight of my groceries made for a good traction aid.

Wishing everyone the happiest of holidays from Canuckistan.
