On the pub crawl ride (foreground, center)

On today's ride running errands

The reason they call that area Hi Mount is there is a nice, long downhill into downtown from there

LOL, I wish you all would stop showing photo's of bikes with FENDERS, I've been trying really hard to convince myself I don't want fenders but, they just make a hybrid look classy! SIGH, there goes the budget!

Sorry.

So I did my Black Friday shopping on the hybrid. The stuff fit into the panniers, but the box I got at my last stop was oversized. I made it work.

That's the fourth handlebar configuration I've had on this bike, and so far it's my favorite.

23 miles on my normal mix of streets and paved rail trails, 60F+, a bit of a stout breeze but a nice ride. Stopped at the LBS for chain and cable lube on the way home!

I took the Hiway 99 trail through Chico on my longest ride yet: 10.1 miles. I know it's short, but I've only been riding three weeks. Started out around 2.4 miles, trying to ride every other day. Now on my third saddle - still not loving the feeling...

Also, the drop bars enable me to ride incognito with the roadie club.

My first 100km trip on my hybrid, on country roads:

I did this in jeans, shirt and sneakers - no problem.

Thanks jbc! The bar isn't that narrow (57 cm), maybe the photo angle makes it look narrower. And with the ergo bar ends it's much more comfortable - in fact I use them most of the time.

Remarkable that this thread has been silent since my last post 8 days ago....

Well, I'm in Europe as advertised, and typing on a German keyboard is well, a bit challenging.

I rode 75 miles in the Netherlands including a 25mile ride around Amsterdam center and a gorgeous 50 mile ride to Zandvort a coastal town West of Amsterdam.

Now in Germany (Limburg an der Lahn), Ive rode two 30 mile trips, one with my uncle, and one with my cousin.

I've shot video of most of the these rides but will save those for when I return home.

Here are a couple of stills.

Of course my bike didn't take me here, but I'll share this since you're in Germany (and this is from when I was in Austria in 2005, but it's still German and it's still bike-related). I thought it was funny when I saw it.

24 miles on my favorite rail trail paths, good news, all the sections of the trails that got basicly destroyed in a massive hail storm/rain last Spring are now being repaired! Should be a lot smoother and faster rides comming soon!
