I'm jealous of all the photos right now. I haven't been able to post any because most of my normal routes are still under 10-15 feet of water from all the flooding we've had recently in Texas, and I've been relegated to boring greenbelts and neighborhood streets to get my miles in. A friend of mine actually took a picture of an 8 foot alligator sitting on one of the park roads I often ride.

Crazy...

Three Rivers Heritage Trail

On the north shore at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. People from Pittsburgh love to use the word "confluence".

...loving my new Greenfield kick stand.

Mount Wellington (kunanyi) is a prominent feature here in Hobart overlooking most of the city so since it was such a nice day decided it was time to conquer this goal. The Mountain is 1,269 metres (4,163 ft) above sea level and has had some world class MTB tracks built around it (like the North South track another goal for the DS another day). Decided to hit it from the base, still about a 12 km , 857m Elevation Ride. I could have taken the road bike but decided the hybrid with hydraulics, extra weight and bigger tires would be more fun coming down The further up you go the windier and colder it gets. Rode up in a jersey, rode down in a jersey with merino base layer and a windproof jacket, beanie and a necksock. Descent is just a LITTLE bit quicker than the ascent (about a 10th of the time ). Luckily there's a tavern at the bottom for a warming hot drink and a toasted sandwich

This thread should be a sticky by the way...

Today's ride: 33 kilometers of farm roads and singletrack in the great Brazilian outdoors.

Hottest June day on record - maybe. Set off at 9.30 today for a tour of Yorkshire and part of the recent Tour de Yorkshire stage 1. Cote de Rosedale was the destination, as this is where I watched Sir Bradley Wiggins and the peloton go flying past hardly out of breathe! Keen to emulate their performance, but failed dismally...

Took the Sirrus off roading for about 15 miles, both it and the road tyres performed really well.

Route

Some hills,,,

First climb done, so all down hill from here

Rolling hills, moors in the distance

Pit stop at Hutton Le Hole!

A few of these way markers, as old as the hills & love the spelling of the town 'Pickering'. Guess not many people could read back then. Purple heather is out.

Off road again, using the remains of a railway line which was used by the iron ore mines in the 1900's. The track is also visible on the far side of the valley, along with building remains and ore ovens.

Old iron ore ovens at top of chimney bank, they are big.

Decent into Rosedale, what's this sign all about? Don't understand.

Pit stop,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Cake smashed, time for the Cote de Rosedale!!

Off road again, the Continental GP4000iis are holding out well. This stretch of the railway is in Farndale, some impressive engineering.

to be continued.............

Time to get back to sea level and tarmac.

Down Ingleby incline, used to transport the ore down to civilisation. https://www.rosedalerailway.org.uk/Mi...20WORKINGS.pdf The link describes it's function better than I can.

Carving made by a railway navie during his tea break, 150 years ago.

Great ride, but a bit too hot. Very impressed with the sirrus and tyres off-road, great to get back on the tarmac though.

Great pics guys, but as always, I reckon the pics are always enhanced so much if you can also capture your bike in the shot.

It is like proof you really did ride there.

Took my son on another C n O ride this past weekend. We did 30 miles. The most I've ever ridden at one time! It was a very muddy ride as well.

...just got back from a 45 minute fast burn up and down the trails that are right across from my front door, went out early to beat the heat - we're supposed to hit 30 celsus today, that's 90 for you fahrenheit inclined riders...

Cheers!

I'm not fast, but I'm a fat guy, 6'1 to 230 lbs.

But I do know that I need a road bike. My hands go numb.

Nice summer day - off work - new saddle - bike ride time

Headed west to Swaledale, Cote de Grinton, just past Richmond and a steep climb (26 mile point) in the tracks of legends from last years Tour de France stage 1, Froome, Contador, Vincenzo Nibali, Riche Porte!

No need for overboots today.

Same shot, different angle.

Grinton village and Reeth in the distance. Plenty of pubs there, but not en-route.

Biking weather doesn't get better than this in UK, perfect! Half way up towards Grinton Moor.

A year tomorrow, there where thousands of spectators at this location. Nice and peaceful today - just sheep and curlews.

Top of Grinton Moor, shame the view is behind you when you're biking up it.

Well on the way home now, descending into the Vale of Mowbray from Masham, North York Moors in the distance. Field full of Poppies.

^^ That's the right kind of dirt I like to see on bikes.

I've had a few weeks off the bike so picked an easy ride today. Used my 29er for hybrid duty's with the suspension fully active and soft, don't think I lifted my bum off the seat the whole ride.

Hah, could be a while.

Within 3 months I should have my bike totally revamped, but then I need to start riding it properly to build up some fitness on it.

Currently I don't ride any longer than my short 2 - 3 km trip to work in the morning and then another 2 - 3 km back home in the evening.

The main reason I don't ride it any further than that, is that I break the odd spoke every now and then and the new wheels I have ordered, can't come quickly enough.
