Keep on posting your ride reports
I couldn't reach the dam in that day,but here it is:

The tires are Schwalbe cx comp,a cross tire with a low, semi-slick profile.

I found the end of a local trail...I didn't exactly expect it to be so, uh, abrupt?

Well that's a bit rude !! Did you check if there's a single dirt trail continuing on.

Sadly the only thing that continued from there is a VERY narrow footpath through the brush (you can sort of see the dark opening on the left side of the end of the trail). No worries, though - I just turned around and went down the road for a while instead. Pretty bizarre it would stop without any warning, though!

My wife and I spent the last three days in beautiful Pismo Beach. There is a great cycling route from Pismo Beach to Avila Beach. Way more hills than I am used to, but I did okay.

I like the color to your Crosstrail! Too bad about the trail ending. Media is close to Philly, so there are plenty of other trails.......but I bet you already knew that and I'm preaching to the choir.

Thanks much! I am happy to ride something that isn't black - I'm over the murdered out look.

Actually, I'm new to finding good trails around here, so if you have any recommendations I'd be more than happy to hear them!

Around Arlington and Alexandria Virginia. Long stop at the Arlington County Fair. Decided to turn it into a boundary stone ride along the SE side.
On the way back, just as I reach 4 Mile Run, the front brake cable snapped. Luckily I only had 7 relatively flat miles left. Later my rear tire felt mushy. Stopped to check. Flatted by a nail. Luckily it was in the last 1/4 mile so, I walked the short distance back to the car.

Rode my Trek 7.3 FX this weekend for my longest ever bike ride. My wife and I did the entire Dakota Rail Trail from Wayzata to New Germany (MN), and back - so ~51 miles total. Didn't take any pictures, but...

The trail really pleasantly surprised me in most ways. It's in excellent condition, and quite beautiful, with a lot of waterfront, some expensive homes to gawk at, transitioning to rolling farmland. The whole thing is well wooded and shaded. It's also flat, which was a change of pace and kind of nice for my first ride of that length.

I did have a minor mishap... it was my first real ride with clipless pedals and at one intersection I got surprised by a car coming around a corner while I had one foot clipped in and managed to tip myself over. A minor scrape and major embarrassment were the only outcomes, though.

I know there is the D & L canal trail that is supposed go from the Philly region all up to northern PA. There is the Heritage trail in central PA, was just on it. Plus there are a number of trails around lakes in various areas from Reading to Allentown down to Philly

Isn't the old North Central Trail called the Torrey C. Brown Trail now?

On the MD side, yes, in PA it's called the Heritage trail. It's the same trail, but MD and PA put down different stones and take care of it somewhat differently. The PA side is nice, but wow the limestone they use really covers the bikes with a fine sandy mess.

Oh wait.........I named it wrong on my prior post. Thanks for pointing that out!

I cringe every time I ready those stories about how a hybrid rider passes a roadie, but today I almost had that experience, until I checked the segment on strava. Turns out my 32seconds to the top is a little short of the 10 sec KOM, lol.Check out this segment on Strava: Strava Segment | North Burleigh Hill — North Burleigh Hill

If one believes the claims often made on these forum boards, there's lots of BF members who would blow by Robbie McEwan on that segment -- creative non-fiction at its finest.
Back to reality, and more important matters: great pic!

Ha-ha, true that. Robbie's house is close to that little hill so my guess is he's done it a few times, lol
Yep, back to realty.

Just got back from a 30 mile ride on the Northern rail trail in NH.

Found a nice place for a quick snack and to get out of the heat.

Definitely jealous of the scenery you guys have on some of your rides. I have NOTHING like that here in the Tampa area.

Doesn't matter, post them anyway. As an international forum, it's really interesting to see where other people live. Because you live there it might not be interesting to you but may well be interesting to others
