Um.... does my Raleigh DL-1 count as a hybrid?

Just for the sake of argument, let's say it does. So... it weighs 50 lb.

My 2008 large sized Giant Cypress comes in at 38 Lbs with a rear Explorer rack and a hardcase pannier.

It is too heavy for faster riding, but that's not what it's for.

55cm Handsome Devil

26.7 lbs

I can get it to 25.5 lbs by simply changing the tires but other than that, the weight is only going to go up.

Not a clue what mine weighs. Does anyone know what the stock 7.2 FX weighs in a 22.5"

2013 Trek 7.2 FX
22.5"

Real life weight? Usually ridden daily with...

Fenders
Rear rack
Bar-ends
Front and rear lights
Cateye Velo 5
Small frame pump
2 full water bottles
Saddle bag with tool, tube etc
Cable lock
1 pannier with clothing/lunch

And of course me, who should drop another 5-7 pounds

Its is what it is. It feels light and fast enough to me. A great commuter, comfortable when loaded, geared right for hills. My typical commute one way is 30 miles. I replaced the saddle and love my long rides.

My 2012 Trek 7.4FX (17.5" frame) weighed 24.6 lbs with no add ons. Of course with the added saddlebag, containing a spare tube, tire leavers and multi-tool, along with a bike lock and of course water bottle, the "riding weight" is likely around 30 lbs.

Best regards

I had a 2007 20" 7.2 and although I never actually weighed it, I lifted it and my other bike (weighed 27-28 lbs) side by side for comparison and the FX felt slightly heavier.

I have a '03 Trek 7500FX. 19.5" (I think) and weighs about 30 pounds with saddle bag full of tubes, mini tool etc. Also includes two water bottles, mirror, lights and cyclometer.

In contrast I have a 55cm ’12 Jamis Quest. My guess is it weighs about 9 pounds less with similar attachments.

How do you weigh your bicycle? I just checked the manufacturer website of my bike and it doesn't list the stock weight any where.

26, just like my road bike ...

Means nothing, I never need to jump off, pick it up, run with it... and jump over an occasional barrier with it.

I go to the bathroom to loose about 2kilos before I go biking.... or maybe pack a few less water bottles... I mean really, I am 100Kg, I think any weight saving on a bike is simply a matter of hair splitting.... or maybe I should pedal in my socks... im pretty sure my shoes are another 2 kilos at least.

It's not so much overall weight, as it is rotating parts. Wheels, tires, hubs, crank, etc.. Stiffer and lighter is the way to go, but you sacrifice comfort. My FX is a little over 23 pounds and change with extras, cages, pump, GPS, etc.. 20" frame. If I took off the extras, changed the 700 x 32c Bontrager H2 tires & heavy SSR saddle, it would be under 20 pounds easy. But I enjoy the comfortable ride, and it's light enough.

What saddle did you put on ? I bought the SSR that comes stock on your bike. Heavy but comfortable.

If you are suggesting the idea that one should take into concideration the rider's weight etc, then I too give birth to an Edgar Britt before a ride, I only use one water bottle no matter the distance (water is freely available here), I am 61kg and my shoes / socks are 270gms.
Not quite splitting hairs.
