Love the Reynolds 520 frame and old school quill stem. Decently equipped for the price, too. I'd say give it a test ride for sure.

I really like it, though I know nothing about Micro Shift stuff.

Won't be able to give it a test ride. Even though the LBS does carry KHS, he stocks primarily their cruisers and road bikes. Hmm, I usually don't consider buying before riding, I'm tempted to pull the trigger.

If you know what fits you, you can probably come close, but it's still a risk. Perhaps the LBS would be willing to buy it back/swing some sort of deal if it is really uncomfortable.

That's my bike- I have the '09 model, but yeah, same thing. I heart my wheels. The group I ride with on the weekends has a lot of road bike folks in it and they've been impressed that i can keep up with them on their rides. It's comfortable, and versatile- I use it as my grocery getter during the week and have it specked out with lights, rack, and panniers for groceries. It's a great ride.

Edit: You may consider swapping out the pedals if you like to ride with toeclips. I bought new clips before realizing the pedals are incompatible with straps. I'm waiting on a pair of MKS Prime Sylvan Touring Pedals from Universal right now.

Second Edit: I should probably clarify that the group I ride with isn't a bunch of hardcore roadies, though some of them are and do roll in full kits. My point was simply to emphasize the versatility of the bike. It's not the lightest by any means, but it's definitely fun and comfortable.
