    puch vbrake

i replaced the oem fork with a 700 hybrid fork and added the v brakes. the new fork is longer so the steering is slower but good for a road bike. there is also less transmitted vibs due to increased weight, softer material? now i need to find a solution for the rear brake. i can hack saw, wiz wheel, file and drill a horseshoe shaped bracket, but are there threaded studs available i could drill and tap the bracket for. i am thinking 1/4" aluminum to make the bracket with. anyone know where to get the threaded studs?

What's wrong with the rear brake? You're looking to replace it with a V as well?

What kind of brake is it right now? Centerpull caliper, sidepull single pivot, sidepull dual pivot?

If you have calipers now and want to go to canti/v's, you'll need to braze on canti mounts.

    A PUCH-Hybrid conversion. I think I'm in love!! LOL!

More info is needed about your rear-brake wishes. Best of luck! Wow!
How do you keep an idiot in suspense?

just the 1972 oem center pull on the rear right now. the v brake adapter plate from dans comp will not fit my application so i need to cobble together a home made adapter. all i need is to find a source for threaded studs and i am on my way.

Just get a decent dual pivot side pull. That will get rid of the whole sponginess that you get from center pulls. V Brakes are nice, I just don't see what all the trouble is for.

Honestly,I wouldn't mess with it. It looks like you were able to fit a full fender and decent width tires. You really don't need to upgrade the rear brake to a V,70% of your braking ability is in the front brake. If the rear sucks,I'd say swap the pads or upgrade to a nicer centerpull or long reach caliper. I don't think there's a bolt-on solution for adding canti/V studs,I think welding is the only way to add them.
