Been trolling the forums and tmrw is the day
So, I'm an immigrant from Ireland in CA for school. Need some transport that'll keep me fit cardio-wise since I blew out my knee. Was looking at singlespeeds then came to my senses
So I just need something to get around on that I can still wear my skinny jeans, colorful shirt and messenger bag on . The natural thought was Hybrid.
Well it seems as if everyone reads the forums because every local Target is sold out of the Schwinn Tourist. I managed to locate one, and being that its almost my birthday, Ive decided to skip class tomorow and go grab it
Pics to follow for those interested. Otherwise hello everyone, you gots yourself a new member.

Picked her up today. Overall I'm impressed. Handle bars needed rotating about 30degrees. Front brakes need huge readjust after removing the front wheel for transport but other than that Target employees didn't mess up too bad.

Of all the big box bike products, the Schwinn Tourist is my favourite. In fact I prefer it over some 'branded' hybrids from LBS too. Well priced, decent components and light! The 24 spoke wheel is the only thing I would be concern if you go off road.

@wunderkind: I'm with you on this took more than a few visits to the local bike stores and tested all the ~$400 models they had..and they didnt strike me much more than this baby.
Derailleur was "sandy" feelin...so mild tune-up worked wonders. Now I see what ye mean when you mention box store assembly.

Congrats on getting a bike you like. As a clydesdale I could never ride a 24 spoke wheel myself. Be sure to keep an eye on spoke tension and wheel truing.
FYI you weren't "trolling", you were lurking, big difference.

I believe that bike is made by Giant!
It's nice looking, reasonably well equiped, and appears to be a really nice bike.
What a nice bike for a college kid, or someone who wants to keep a bike at other places ( farther away locations).
One has to wonder how they can sell that bike at that price! And, even better, when on sale.
