Specialized Sirrus rear rack??? (which one)

Does anyone know how to figure out which rear over the back wheel rack fits my bike? While researching different rear racks I found out that not all racks fit all bikes and ppl are talking about doing some elaborate modifications to there bikes to get it to fit. I would prefer just a easy install out the box. I googled it, but cant find any answers. Any ideas??

    Thank you,

    Cally

Most racks will fit that bike. What racks are you looking at? What features are you interested in? What kind of loads are you planning on carrying? My favorite is Jandd Expedition rack, but a lighter, less expensive one might suit your needs. http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FREXP Jandd makes lighter duty racks for about half the price of this one.

    Thanks qmsdc15,

I will look into the link you provided, I cant even remember the ones I was looking at, I think the brand was Topeak but I just did a search on amazon and then got distracted with all the comments people were making about the rack not fitting. I am mainly using this bike to commute to work so I will just be carring the lock and maybe a little work stuff and lunch, nothing major.

I bought this one, and love it.

55 pounds max rated, I think most racks will work on any bike...It is not water proof though.. Richard

My Sirrus has had three racks on it. One, cheap no-name rack from Nashbar. A planet bike eco-rack. A Topeak Explorer.

Really, any rack will fit it.

Choosing a rack can be a bit daunting at first.

    1. Determine if you're going to be a trunk or pannier person. Just about any rack will handle the trunk, but not all racks are ideal for panniers.

    2. If you are going to be a pannier type, then I'd suggest finding one similar to this Axiom, or that Jandd that was suggested earlier. That Sirrus has some shortish chainstays, so heel strike maybe an issue with the wrong rack/bag set-up.

Most racks will work; however, S and XS frames (52cm BB to TT and less) might require 16" rack-stays available from Jandd. http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FEXT

I happen to use a Blackburn EX-1 on mine.010..jpg and yes it's an XS frame.

I don't know to the name of it, but here's mine:

Getting the front ties in required a bit of man-handling, but once in, it's solid.

I was told by the shop that sold me my sirrus that just about any rack will fit.
