Did my first metric century
Okay so I'm a little late posting this, but Last weekend I did my first metric century.
I did the One Helluva Ride in Chelsea, Mi - 64 mile course in 4 hours 6 mins for an average speed of 15.7 mph on my Trek 7.5FX.
There were a lot of hills, seemed like a roller coaster towards the end. The first 38 miles to lunch were easy. but after 50 miles my hands were protesting (I have stock grips, with tape-wrapped barends). Around 60 miles the hills began to take their toll on my knees, but I toughed it out and was able to finish.

Thanks. During my training I kept coming up with about that average, but on shorter runs, so I thought I would just train hard, and slow it down for the ride. I even did one short ride a few days before where I made myself go about 14mph. I figured that the day of the ride, I would average about 13mph with hills, and a slow down at the end. But I kept attacking the hills, and resting on the downhills, and by lunch I was actually over a 16mph average. The last few miles took me down a bit, but overall, i was very surprised that my time was that good. The last couple of hills didn't really hurt my knees (my hands were a different story) but the tendons felt like they were bulging, and I was beginning to fear an injury, but I was feeling good after the ride, and great the next day.
