Why is there no FX 7.4?

Am I the only one who thinks this seems odd? And no 7.8? Does someone at Trek take issue with the 4 times tables? If I take the parts off a 7.5 and add them to a 7.3....do I then get a 7.8?

It may be because of the Japanese market. The number 4 is bad luck in Japan, so many manufacturers avoid product numbers with 4 in it if they're sold in Japan. I don't know for sure that these bikes are sold there, but I see this all the time in consumer electronics. For example, Denon's A/V receiver model numbers went from 3803 to 3805. So, that's my guess.

It is indeed odd that there is no 7.4, but the math is not as you describe it.
If your take the parts off of a 7.5 and add them to a 7.3, you still have a 7.5, since the parts make the bike.

Strictly speaking, Exit said add - not "replace". Although how the bike would handle with four wheels, two rear derailers, etc, I'm not sure. It'd be a trifle heavy, certainly...
