Help, need new bike!

Hi there, a few weeks ago I unfortunately had my bike stolen .... so, I need to purchase a new bike... I'm a student and am not able to afford anything over $325 really... there are some good deals online I've seen. I really want a lightweight bike... preferably a hybrid as I am in Boulder and ride some rough paved roads and bike trails...my old bike had seat and front suspension and I'd really like to have that again. So far, I've looked at GT Nomad sport hybrid... it seems a bit heavy though, but I'm not entirely sure how much it weighs. I've also looked at the Diamondback Edgewood LX Men's Sport Hybrid Bike...I am a girl but I don't need a "womens specific bike" I am 5'7 so I am looking for about a 17-18 inch frame... please help because I need to get something ASAP! Thanks!

I suggest you visit the Performance Bike store in Boulder. It's part of a national chain, but they're website shows a number of choices in your range. You can see what's in-stock at the the Boulder location or get assistance with a purchase out of their warehouse.

You can view their path/pavement & trekking bikes @ https://www.performancebike.com/

I'd opt for something without the suspension fork. You don't need it for paved surfaces, and it only adds expense, weight and maintenance issues. Here are a few that seem worth checking out:

Fuji Crosstown 4.0
Diamondback Maravista
GT Zumo
Schwinn Sierra 7

While Performance isn't in the same league as the LBS that caters to cycling enthusiasts with bigger budgets, they do offer overall good values. And they have a good reputation for standing behind any product they sell.

Look online for the Kilo TT and Kilo TT Pro models if you want a single speed bike.

In general, with a $325 budget, definitely prowl craigslist. Also try going to bike shops and seeing what models they are in a rush to get rid of - they'll be more inclined to negotiate the price.

best of luck.

I usually suggest local Bike COOP's for used bikes. Any profit they make is used to promote cycling:
