Which to buy

We need advice on which of the following bikes to buy for our son who's soon to be 17yrs old:
a-2011 Kona Dew (base model) 49cm for $409.00(regular price)

**********or********

b-2010 Specialized Crosstrail Sport for $435.00 (reg price with 25% off)

He's test-ridden both and likes both. The Specialized has the springer forks and we wonder if that would be useful since it will be an asphalt ridden bike/college bike/going over curb bike; also, I wonder about the weight differences (the specialized weighs about 30#-- I don't know the Kona weight);

I would appreciate any feedback/opinions since I haven't bought a bike in 30 yrs.
thanks.

Short answer, get him the Kona Dew and yourself the Specialized Crosstrail Sport.

Take a look at this bike. Better components and a better looking bike. Free shipping to the lower 48 and no tax.

+1 on that. They may have a tendency to disappear suddenly in that environment. Sad, but true.
