I need friends like you in LA who call me up and tell me we're going out and MAKE me . Although I don't mind being alone I truly enjoy riding with a friend. today is Ciclavia (you can look it up) and I should have TOTALLY been there but being one of those crazy Jews who actually fully observes Passover, today is a day to go do some serious Passover groceries and kosher eating
Right on, Tamara!
Now get out and ride. Short, easy rides (10K or less), just for fun. There's no reason to be a lapsed rider. Dial up the intensity when you want to, but go for a cruise right now in your Crocs or anytime. Biking should be easy and fun and you will remember that it is as soon as you get back on your saddle!
Not just fair weather footware, Crocs sans socks rock on rainy summer rides! Makes riding in rain fun! Imagine that, naysayers! Although that's probably beyond the imagination of the small minded few who just don't get it.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Crocs are among the most comfortable shoes ever and I know a few folks who pack them in their kit so when they take off the cycling shoes they can slip into something more comfortable.
I am stuck with riding clip-less more than I'd like to be as my left foot needs to be clipped in so it stays in place (it sometimes forgets where it is) and am looking to buy some spd sandals... that I can wear with work socks.
There is nothing like riding on a really hot day and having your feet stay cool... I have some sport sandals that work fairly well with some toothy BMX pedals and they have a self molding insole and a stiffer sole which makes them very comfortable for cycling.
But for distance that absent minded foot needs to stay in place.
Wonder if Crocs come in spd versions ?

It actually gets hot enough in Canada to warrant sandals... the partially enclosed toe is a good idea as I have seen people injure themselves pretty badly while wearing flip flops.
Lets just say that when you open up a vein in your foot (where they are very exposed) because you smashed it into a pedal that the blood shoots out about 6 feet.

I'm no Dutchboy ... I'm Flemmish.
"Dutch" is a silly term anyway since it comes from "Deutch" which means "from Deutchland" which means "from Germany".
... but what is to be expected when you people call Belgian fries ... "French fries", right?
Anyway ... In Belgium there's Flemmish or Vlamingen, Limburgers, Brabanders and there's Walloons or Walen ... there's also some Germans but that's complicated as is everything in this strange country.
In Nederland also known as Holland there's Friesen, Hollanders, Limburgers and probably more I don't know of.
It al boils down to the fact that I'm no dutchboy

Good to see you back... am looking for some spd sandals and will keep this in mind.

"...the blood shoots out about 6 feet." Shoes are actually a pretty good invention when you think about it. I should probably work in steel toed boots as it is possible to drop my trailer onto my foot and it hurts when that happens. Still sandals are sometimes worth the risk in my opinion.
Now that I've got my Cannondale hybrid in good repair, this MTB has been relegated to 'rain bike' status. These sandals are the only shoes I have set up to work with the pedals though and while there is no better footwear for cycling in Summer rain than clipless sandals without socks (awesome giggle-inducing sensation vs. the soggy misery of wet shoes), the rain yesterday was cold (sub 50º F) and I was worried that my feet would become painfully cold. I wore Sealskin socks and it worked out OK. I think the toe covering helped in this regard, and the fact that the rain was not a heavy soaking rain.
I have scraped my toenail on the pavement from a mishap that occurred while riding in sandals. That could have been a lot worse and it can't really happen with these. I selected the Ragster sandals because of the low price but they are as comfortable as the Exustar sandals and noticeably more comfortable than the Shimano sandals I've owned. There is reflective material in the toe piece also which could provide a small safety margin while riding after dark.

You Euros should loosen up a bit. Wearing wooden shoes might not be ideal for a ride to Denmark, but surely you can make it to your local coffee shop without high tech (leather/plastic) footwear. Every bike ride should not be a big ride. Incorporate bicycling into your daily life like the Dutch do, ride to the store in your native garb. Reindeer pelts perhaps in your case.

Did you know that wood was the preferred material for the soles of bicycling shoes in the not too distant past?

Sorry, can't remember who made the fender or where I got it. There are no identifying markings of any kind on it.

No, I didn't run over giant's brother in my Mercedes convertible and there are no markings on my fender.
I was answering his questions about my bike fender, or rather apologizing for not knowing the answers. Sorry about your brother Steve, I hope the guilty party will be brought to justice.
I can't figure out how you found out about my car.
Thanks for the welcome back. There's plenty of great pictures in my absence. From all corners of the world. Hybrids forum excels at showing nice pictures.

As we say in the subtropics - WTF are socks?
I'd mentioned in another forum that I thought Crocs were the ugliest thing ever and I wouldn't be caught dead in them and there was a wave of pro croc sentiment directed at me (some of it very nasty - even nastier than crocs). I ended up having 3 pairs mailed to me - this delicious pink pair from Spain, a hot pink pair with bright medallions in the holes from England and a pair of Duke University fan crocs from the Carolinas. I have been searching for the elusive pink Cannondale bike with the two different sized wheels since to match the crocs.

Crocs are ugly and the people who wear them uglier still.
If you disagree, send me Crocs from Japan with star shaped holes, and Duke Blue Devil Crocs. You can keep the pink ones!
Size 11/12 US, thanks.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Bought some Dawgs a few weeks ago... not using them for riding but really seem to have reduced some low back and leg pain.
Suffer from some foot drop and having one's leg slam down hard with each step is hard on the joints.
Paid $10.00 on clearance and have been using them for all non biking stuff.
UGLy as sin but I don't care.

This is too funny! I have been making fun of my husband for 2 years because he went back to toe clips and rides his road bike with crocs. He says it is way more comfortable for his knees and he doesn't notice any less efficiency. Now I have to take it all back and tell him he isn't the only one out there cycling in crocs.
