Decisions.....
Hello...
New to the forums and hopefully near future new to the biking world (again)
Has been quite a few years since I rode on a regular basis but when I did in my youth it was a usual 10-25 mile a day jaunt.
I'm looking at getting back into the saddle again just need some input on some entry level bikes. To give everyone an idea I currently live roughly 3-4 miles from work and plan to do an extensive amount of time commuting. Along with this have access to a lengthy bike trail roughly 1-2 miles from home and plan on hitting that at least 2-4 days a week for as long as my body can hold up.
I went to a local shop today and jumped on a Trek 7.3FX along with a Cannondale Quick 4. My price range will be a rather varying one as I am looking at having a few extra dollars to spend due to working so much lately. Right now my range as I see it is from 6-1k, could vary one way or another if the right info came along. I also liked the looks of the Trek Utopia and have read quite a few good reviews on it. The sales person working mentions the Scott Sportster 30 as it has quite a few good upgrades for the money. I am planning on going back in the upcoming week to ride the Utopia and 30 to see which "hits the spot". Right now I like the Trek 7.3FX over the Quick 4.
My main questions are: Are there any other Brands/Models I should ride? Any Brands/Models that are a better value for the dollar? Any thing I should be worried about with my current choices, i.e. known issues/problems?
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Jeremy

The Jamis Coda Sport should get a ride. Perhaps a Giant Rapid 2 as well.
