Specialized Crosstrail
I am just curious of what you guys think of the Specialized Cross Trail? I have a few friends who got one, and it seems like a really great bike. I am just not sold on the suspension fork. I did like those tires though.

If you want to ride on multiple surfaces comfortably, then it has it's place. Of course, the old Tricross CX took to the same surfaces without suspension on skinnier tires...
If you want it and like it, then get it.

I have a Crosstrail Sport Disc. My only complaint is with the brakes, the factory finally gave up trying to fix them and gave me a set of Juicy 3.5's.
It's my commuter (although only 6 miles), I like it a lot. I've only unlocked the front suspension once if that tells you anything. I like the tires too.

I have a 2009 Elite model and like it alot. It does everything I need it to do. I will probably put some skinnier tires on it to make it faster, but that is about it.

I have a 2010 model. I love it. It truly is capable of some serious off trails and single tracks. I've done it. But, it is heavy for extensive off trail riding. So I will be purchasing a dedicated mountain bike. I use mine mainly for trail rides. The tires are perfect for the gravel that most rails/trails are made up of. I tried to ride it on the road, but it's not good for that. So I purchased a Diamondback Insight 2 for that. That is a great bike for street riding and some minor trail. Again, not really excelling at any one thing. So I've just purchased a GT series 2 road bike and love that. Hybrids are great when you are starting out. But you'll find that if you decide to really get into any one type of riding, you will want a dedicated bike for that style. But to answer you question about the CrossTrail. It's a very good bike. I wouldn't get rid if mine any time soon.

I have the Crosstrail Sport Disc and have been very happy with it. My experience with the brakes has been great - once I test rode the bike with the hydraulically actuated disc brakes I knew I'd never be satisfied with cable operated traditional bike brakes again. I have almost 1,000 miles on the bike and the brakes are still great.
I rode about the first 600 miles with the front suspension locked out for pavement, then on a whim gave it a try. It is a great increase in my comfort level on the local country, often chip-sealed roads and rough shoulders. I haven't locked out the front suspension in the last 300 miles.
I added fenders, a rack, a kickstand, a mirror, and a few other extras and have been very, very pleased with the bike.
