Buying a 17.5" bike, good fit?

I'm looking to buy a used 17.5" Raleigh C30 Hybrid Bike that I found a good deal off craigslist, but I'm around 5'11.5 (31" inseam) and wondering could this still be a good fit?

I would say probably not. I'm 6'2 and I fit very comfortably on a 22" and I have a 34 inseam. If you get that bike you might have to jack up the seat and add extenders to the handlebars. I would say just ride it before you buy it to see if you are comfortable with it (you don't want your knees being wider than your shoulders.

thank you, I think I'll have to agree, I prefer a larger frame anyways.

Don't do it. Your dimensions are almost exactly like mine. I fought through 2 17.5 inch bikes last year since the LBS did nothing to deter me. I went by clearance over the top tube only and this will not work if you have short legs and a long body. I now ride two 54 cm (21 inch) road framed bikes and am much more comfy. If you're looking for a hybrid the geometry on the Gary Fisher bikes from Trek are made well for our type of bodies. I test rode (Wingra) one since my 17.5 inch bikes were Treks and liked them other than the size. If I wanted a flat bar I would have gone with it but I'm finding that drop bar bikes feel really good to me. I look at my cyclocross bike as my hybrid.
