I recently bought a Specialized Sirrus Elite Disc and although I am riding it as a road bike for now, I plan on using it as a touring bike. I am looking forward to getting a road bike and going ahead and converting my Sirrus to a a touring rig, I have big plans in my mind, just hope I can make them come true. Hope some others chime in.

I´m planning and are about to do a multi day field trip with my hybrid. Most hybrids are well and sturdy built to handle touring. The only weak spot could the rims and spokes. You should check what kind of weight they are built for.

Myself, I´ll try to get my hands on a one-wheeled trailer together with front panniers to even out the burden. But I could just aswell go for a full rig and skip the trailer.
