Looking for recommendations for a hybrid around $500

Hi,

Want to buy a hybrid for: 1. Recreational riding around the city 2. An occasional trail ride.
I'd like to keep it between $400 - $600. I know the names of the major players. The problem with major players is that you are paying for advertising and endorsements as well as the bike.

Looking for a recommendation of an up-and-coming manufacturer. Clear as mud?

Thanks

I don't knwo any up and coming manufacturers, but I can say that the large brands have $400-$500 bikes that are good quality. Is there any other reason you wouldn't choose a Trek or Giant or other large company?

I don't own one, but check out Raleigh Misceo line. They don't look bad, and its kind of an old school name with a resurgence. Base model has solid fork, upper models suspension, looks like you could compare between.
