Suggest a bike for me
I bought a mountain bike, but had to return it. I got it at Walmart, so was easy to return. Here is a LINK to my first post regarding this bike. I think what I really need is a hybrid bike, but don't know quite what to get. My local bike shop has Trek's that sell starting at about $350-400. Is there a place to get something that is more entry level (and lower cost), and if so, what is a good model? I am 60 y.o. and will not be racing or going off-road. I was thinking maybe Schwinn would be a good choice - at least it was really good quality 35-40 years ago.
Forgot to mention that most of my riding will be in the neighborhood for exercise.

Be warned: I know nothing about this bike, but I've read a couple of posts here that said it's an OK big-box store bike-- the Schwinn Trailways. I think they said Target has them but I don't recall for certain. According to many posts here, the Schwinns aren't like the old ones. Sold their name or something.
I bought a bike at the beginning of the summer, but went with a Trek 7100 women's. The bike shop was very helpful and included some good service perks. I figured it would be the only bike I'll ever buy so I bit the $ bullet. I'm pleased with it.
You might want to also take a look at the Giant Cypress or Sedona ST (steel) models. They are under $350, I believe. I could never find one in my size. The aluminum ones are a little more expensive.
Maybe others will reply with more info. Good luck with your purchase!
