Abandoned Gary Fisher Capitola

Hi there, new here and looking for some info on a bike I have acquired.
While going through the abandoned property at a friend's tow yard, I came across a Gary Fisher Capitola, in very good shape.
I know very little about these bikes, except that it's considered a Hybrid, and Gary Fisher now works for another company.
From the looks of the frame, it's a Girl's Bike (I was surprised to see they still made that differentiation in the PC world), and there is a (15") sticker on the frame, though online all the references I have found for Capitolas are either 14.5", or 16.5".

All Shimano Hardware works, though the rear brake may need adjustment. No grips on the bars either.
I would like to know how to determine it's model year, and if it is actually as good of a bike as it looks.
Thanks for any input,

It looks like a 2003 from the paint, but you're right they didn't list a 15 inch in 2003. They didn't list the sizes in inches in 2002 so maybe it's a left over 2002 frame built in 2003. Just a guess. Trek bought Gary Fisher, but not sure when.

Thanks for the links. The paint job sure matches the middle link, which I am assuming is the 2003, as it lists sizes in inches.
The bike is labeled "Silver Series" which also matches that link.

I see the appropriate non gender term os step through, not Girls'.
Thanks for the help.

Gary Fisher brand is a pretty decent bike, along the lines of Trek. It is not a WalMart special, that's for sure. Probably retailed for about $350+ is what I'm thinking.

Time to resurrect another zombie thread. I was at a friends house yesterday and she asked me what I thought about one of these that's been sitting in the garage for over 10 years. Apparently a friend of her son left it over there and it's been there long enough for her to think about riding it herself. Everything seems to be in pretty good shape but the shifters have some weird display for the gear indicators. There are a pair of dials that look like speedometers for each shifter that I haven't seen before, can anyone tell me anything about them?

I've seen them on old bikes a couple times at my clinic. There's two types;ones that just have dials instead of the bars most current shifters have, and ones with extra cables that attach to the shifters to specifically turn the dials. Pretty much work the same as any shifters, just a different display. They aren't made anymore, and pretty much zero chance of parts,so if they don't work you'll have to replace. Note, the second kind I mentioned will function(shift gears) even if the displays don't work.

I'm think this one has the second kind. The tires were flat and we didn't ride it.
