Best time of year to buy a Trek?? Or other brands??
I'm still considering whether to upgrade my existing MTB to hybrid specs or purchase a new Trek FX 7.4 or equivalent. Wondering if there's a "best time" to buy?

All 2011 models should be dirt cheap immediately after Xmas. This price drop should be expected throughout the winter. However, the closer we get to Spring, look for greater price increases. In some cases, expect a few tricks to get would-be cyclists to pay 2012 prices for 2011 bicycles.

Last year's models can usually be had at good discounts during the fall and winter (until they sell out).

Shortly before the new models come out, more so in winter climates.
Also depends on dealer stock and popularity of the bike, some are just going to sell at a higher price regardless of model year.

Right now, after Christmas, is probably the best time to get a deal on the bike you want, especially if it is last year's model.
