I knew it. But I was actually thinking that you put away your bike riding pocket shooter and brought out the good camera for the still shot at home base. I wasn't thinking you were new to dSLR. For somebody who shoots as much as you do you need a dSLR. I can testify that you already know how to use it as evidenced by those gorgeous red bicycle shots.
My new phone has a very respectable point and shoot camera in it and will have to do for the road bike but I still find myself taking the hybrid, even on many longer rides because my dSLRs, much like my SLRs used to be, and I are permanently joined at the hip.

I love the TCR. Took me a couple of weeks to decide what I wanted. Plus my LBS made me an offer I couldn't refuse. The ride is surprising comfortable for a full on race bike. The only thing I need is a new wheelset and an ANT+ computer to work with the Giant RideSense built in it.

Back in the 80's I had a Schwinn World Sport '83 or '84 until it got stolen in '91....kinda put the nail in the coffin for me until last year. Anyhow, a few months ago I found some pics and done a little research in trying find out what I had. I even found the Schwinn Catalog with all the info on the bike.
Then I stumbled upon this by accident yesterday. Nearly brand new condition "81 World Sport...so I just put in an offer & I woke up to find out its mine now. I don't know what it is about me & gray bikes but that makes the 3rd grey along with 2 silver ones...just never another color option at the time.
Just the decals have faded or peel off.

Just about all of my bikes are 'hybrid' in the fact that are modded beyond what they were designed to be.
My flatbar roadie. Cheap roadbike but the frame was a little small and the brakes awful so I changed the drops to flats, added 21 speed indexed/brake integrated pods and changed out the rear Single pivot to a double pivot. I also changed out the pads to Shimano 105 spec. Stops really nicely now - even with the v brake handle/caliper mismatch. Great light fast commuter ride.
My foul weather/grocery getter/kid carrying all purpose bike. Pretty much a standard 'cheap' mtb with a few mods. Brakes are modded with cools top salmons, tires are home made studded snow tires and the rack is rated for 50kg. enough to carry my kid in the kid seat/basket. A bit heavy but once she gets moving theres nothing to stop her and the cargo capacity is great. Both of these bikes are my 'commuters' in that get locked in public racks.
Lastly my toy. A fuju outland pro frame I got for cheap. I used Shimano mt15 wheels, Deore brakes and gears front and back, Rock shox tora for the front, the bars come from a pile - those where the right length/extension not sure where they lived originally. I have a smart phone mount with recharging options to either a 12v battery or another 4.2v booster, 1600 lumens of lights and the appropriate hardware. I have on road slicks or mtb tires depending on the season. This one is a REALLY nice ride but it cost me a fair bit of time to source good quality second hand parts and a lot more cash than both of the first two combined. Gets used when I need to commute at night, for long weekend rides, or when I have a nice safe parking area.

On the way back from Miami I finally got to pick up my 31 yr old Schwinn Road Bike. It was as expected in nearly new condition. Decals were faded and the seat had a small hole...otherwise it seemed like it was hardly ever used. For only $100 I wanted to see if I would like riding a road bike again.
I cleaned off the old decals & wax her up a little. I put on a Kalloy Riser stem, foam grips and my old Bontrager Sawyer saddle and went for a 10 mile test ride.
I could hardly believe how well it rode...was thinking that I might make it into a flat bar road bike if I didn't like the drops...but not now! Loved It!

That's quite an amazing find for $100 in that condition. I fixed up a Ricardo Varsity which is an aussie equivalent to what you got. It needed a huge amount of work though but rode great. I've got a feeling your noticing the same feel mine has apart from the nostalgia and that's the low tensile "soft" steel fork that just soaks up every road irregularity, you can even see the fork in action as you ride along. Race bikes with higher tensile tubing do it as well but not as much. Watch that fork in action while riding.

I would lose those suicide brake levers as fast as you can.
re: fork springinesss, the reynolds 531 forks on my 70s motobecane grand record have excellent springiness, as does the rear triangle. thin slender forks/stays of thinwall tubing do just great. an old road bike frame test was to lean the frame over, and put your foot on the crank over the BB and push on it while holding the seat and bars to feel how springy the frame was. a good frame had a certain bounce to it, a cheap frame felt leaden. a long wheelbase touring frame like my grand record has more give than a short stiff criterium racing frame.
