You'll find far too many Coda owners within this forum who will vehemently disagree with that statement. The Codas are universally renown for their smoothness, their agility, and their comfort.

PS.

I urge you to test ride the Jamis Coda Comp for yourself. Then return back to this Forum and report your findings.

Better yet! Compare the rides of both the Cannondale Quick 3 and the Fuji Absolute 2.0, to the ride of the Jamis Coda Comp.

The Proof is in the Pudding!

I'm going to locate the following and test them out:

Fuji Absolute 1.0
Cannondale Quick 3
Jamis Coda Elite

I did some searching and found out the Fuji is about 3lbs less than the Jamis....
I know weight isn't everything but that is pretty significant.

Yeah, 3lbs. IS significant in a bicycle race. However, with hybrids and touring bikes, that could just come down to bottled water and a packed lunch.

Besides, with the Coda Elite you're getting a chromoly steel bicycle as opposed to aluminum. You're also getting avid 7 disc brakes. Disc brakes, weigh more than V-brakes.

Most hybriders aren't that concerned about weight. We're more concerned about the feel of the ride, comfort, and how responsive our bikes are in handling.

It's usually the weight weenie roadies who have grave concerns about weight, since they have huge aspirations of becoming winners in sprints, crits, and such...

PS.

The weight of the Coda Comp will be more comparable to that of the Absolute 1.0

Thanks for the info slim. I'll definitely check out both. I don't think I need disc brakes here. According to the Jamis website the Coda Comp is only .25lbs less than the elite.

You'll find the difference to be between aluminum and steel as a frame building material that affects ride quality and comfort. Not springy (aluminum) vs. springy (steel). The weight differential is for all intents and purposes neglible for the recreational rider.

I have been calling around to all LBS that carry Jamis bikes and not one has said they have the Comp or Elite in stock.

I had something odd happen today. At my LBS they have cannondale and specialized. I asked about a quick 3 but they didn't have any in stock. He had a quick 5 I think. He went on to tell how the quick 3 was only for really serious and professional cyclists and I should just get the 5. I pointed out some benefits of the 3 that I liked and he just said that it's all overkill and the 3 isn't worth it. Obviously he was just trying to make a sale since he didn't have the 3 in stock. I don't think I'll be going back there.

Still haven't been able to find a fuji or jamis anywhere.

The Quick 3 seems nearly identical to my Trek FX 7.5. Very similar design, components, and price. Just something to consider, in case you have a Trek dealer nearby.

Here's a list of Performance Bicycle shops in CA. https://www.performancebike.com/bikes...atorCalifornia

They have a 2011 and a 2012 Fuji Absolute 2.0 models. Better than the Quick 3 IMO.

Have you been to Orange 20 in Hollywood? I mentioned them earlier for Jamis dealers.

No problem. Let me know how they are--I'm planning on going there to test out a Jamis. Their website says that they also carry Fuji.

Still no luck on finding a Jamis Coda Comp or Jamis Coda Elite. I called every single store that carries Jamis in a 40 mile radius and they only carry Jamis Coda Sports. Guess I'm out of luck on a Comp or Elite.

Don't get so stuck on make & model. Buy something that's quality-built using your material of choice (Cr-Mo, Aluminum, or Carbon Fiber), and that fits you correctly. As long as it has the features you're looking for, you'll be perfectly happy with it.

LMAO! Yes he was just trying to sell what he had instock. I hate shops that try to do that. With the comments he made was treating you like you were totally ignorant.

I do believe REIs sell them. You could try a Quick 4, as it's closer to the ride of the 3. But the 3 is more road-like.
And Fuji does make some nice bikes as well.

Dang. I would like to try a Comp. I'm sure that a store could order one (or put me on the list), but not sure if they'll do that when someone isn't committed to buying it.

I will keep my options open but I wanted to test out a variety of bikes and then decide based on feel and components.

Fuji makes very nice bikes for the money. Congrats! I'm guessing you really liked the ride and are comfortable on the bike?

Yep, I love it! It's more upright than some others I tried and that's what I like about it. It is so much faster than my navigator too. Can't wait to test it on a longer ride tomorrow!

Haha, yes. I have a cat and it stops her from scratching. Her 5 other scratching posts weren't enough.
