Hybrid frame model names wanted - my criteria is here..
I am looking for a hybrid frame/bike that MUST have all of these features:
1) Designed for 26" wheel use
2) Made from aluminium
3) Have proper road style forks
4) Have disc brake fittings
I know of the (no longer made in this format) Marin Point Reyes. Note that I am not looking to use a hardtail MTB frame as an adaptation for this purpose; I am currently doing that.

I thought 700c wheels were one of the major differences between a hybrid & MB?

I doubt it very seriously...
Aluminum?
26er?
Conventional road bike like forks?
Disc brakes?
Nope! I don't think so...

I don't know of any either.
The Long Haul Trucker disc model could be built up hybrid style and would fit everything except the aluminum frame.

i am sure you have your reasons for choosing 26 wheels but the tire opportunities for a road bike are slim compared to 700c.

it's steel but comes with disc brakes mounts and the smaller sizes are for 26 wheels. since it is for disc brakes a 26 will fit any size.

I'm already using a hardtail MTB frame, A Pace RC305, with Bontrager carbon forks. It's an overbuilt frame for what i want weight wise, I want lighter. The clearances are all too much, I don't like the look of the bike, I want something that looks more 'road' than 'MTB'. I also want a conventional front fork, again with reasonable clearances. I already have a very nice set of Hope 26" wheels and a pair of Panaracer Ribmo tyres, again that I really like. I also like the use of 26" wheels for the advantages in weight and acceleration that they give. The fast rolling advantages of bigger wheels are marginal and I don't ride so fast these days. So for those reasons, I'm looking to just change the frame.
As I said, there IS a frame out there, it's the Marin Point reyes from a couple of years ago that does meet my criteria, so it's just a question of waiting until one comes along. I missed one last week on Ebay, guy stopped auction early, gone.
Thanks anyway guys, I had already researched this and come up with a load of 700c stuff, but maybe, just maybe, someone knew of something that I had missed. Marin Point Reyes it is then.

Also frames without forks are not so much used to me, because aftermarket forks tend to be really big clearance jobs to take MTB tyres or 700Cs, whatever. Conversely, dedicated 26" wheel hybrid frames use the correct fork. And yeah they have a lot of clearance, but not a massive amount. Also, the price goes up if you've gotta buy a frame from someone then buy a separate fork.

SlimRider threw down a challenge for me to find one "full production" and I couldn't but I do remember Scott made a 26er hybrid some years ago and maybe Cannondale. I guess there's no market for them anymore.

My local bike shop sells 26" CroMo hybrids, and they sell very very well here in the city as they can quickly adapt to the river trails. Change the tyres to MTB tyres and you have a rigid MTB. It's what my wife and daughter have, but we converted them to MTB mode.
In my opinion, a hybrid should easily adapt from road to trail, and these do.
Scroll down and you'll see the ones I'm talkinh about. https://www.vigore.co.jp/hot/index.html

I knew they were around, the Cannondale is still a good looking bike even has the head shock and the frame almost looks carbon. I remember the Vigore you found also and loved them ever since.

Not that it helps you, but the vigore bikes can have custom work like discs and internal cabling etc. If you check your local frame builders, they can produce what you want. Look outside the square ie. You don`t have to go mainstream.

Please read my criteria - outside of that is no use to me, so no disrespect to anyone, I know you're only trying to help, but it's no help being told about things that I've already said I don't want..

Just so you know...if the bike has disc brakes you could put 26" wheels on there...I have absolutely no idea how this would affect the handling of the bike, but it is a possibility.
My housemate has a Point Reyes 29er, so not exactly what you're looking for, but the fork is not road-style. It's actually quite big and probably could fit 50mm tires on there.

Great stuff, thanks! Are they light though? I already have my Pace RC305 (that is basically a hardtail MTB frame), I'm wondering what any weight gains may be.

I was thinking the exact thing. Possibly the Nashbar touring frame & fork. A very budget alternative with mostly positive reviews.
