Agreed it's tempting to look into importing one. I'm loving this thread and this bike proves one thing if anyone thinks hybrids are boring then they just aren't looking hard enough.

Great bikes!

Have to admit - outside the US the hybrids appear to be much more trail oriented with higher end components. I'm working either a CX bike myself, or converting a CX to straight bar to get what it apears you have

With some saddle and bar height adjustments could this be the ultimate all round bike. A flat bar Cyclocrosser?

Guerciotti Trekker.

Don't forget about this one too.. only $8000, and another $2000 to upgrade to Cobalt 11 full carbon wheelset.

This is my main ride and besides how nice it rode I liked the looks. The gray on blue is an excellent combination and I also like the black rims, bars, brake levers and seat post. As much as I like the bike though If I were buying now I would probably go with a flat bar road bike instead of the comfort hybrid.

My Trek 7.2 FX apparently can be described as a "light touring" geometry, with longer chainstays and slightly more upright seating than a "flat bar road bike" would have.
Yes, I can see your logic, but the basis of you logic is, that to be "purely" a road bike it has to have drop bars. My opinion is, that is incorrect, much in the same way that it would be incorrect to state that any car that did not look like a Formula 1 is an off-road vehicle. Can you see what I mean? In other words, I see any bike with road gears and road tires and a road frame as "purely" a road bike. Those with drop bars are "racing" bikes! My reasoning has evolved from when I used to ride bikes with drop-bars but I spent 99% of the time with my hands on the flat upper part. So when I bought my last bike I went to the LBS and asked for a road bike, but one with flat bars. I must admit that I often wish I had drop-bars again, just for posing reasons.

I wonder if they have reputable bicycle mechanic that puts them together, or just some random employee put it together like they would at Wal-Mart or Target

How can brake discs be effective with so little material for the pads to bite onto? Seems like all the edges of all those holes would chew up the pads pretty bad.

*edit* I was referring to the black BMC bike at the bottom of the previous page, where the brake discs look like structural building trusses with triangular holes all around, and very little material in between.

How deep are your pockets? Most of these brands will have importers in our country's it's just a question of if there nice enough to bring in a particular bike for you. But naturally there going to ask for full payment up front and there wont be any test rides to see if you like the bike first.

They do wear out faster but it's intended to be a performance bike and like anything designed for ultimate performance it needs more maintenance "pad replacement". As far as I know more air can circulate between the pad and disc for increased cooling and the higher end calipers hoses and master cylinders more that makeup for having less contact area between the pad and disc, pad compounds play a part too.
Great brakes are easy to notice as soon as you start riding them but to really feel the full benefits of all this you would need to ride the bike the way it was intended, as a performance bike.
