Of the two Cannondale's - would you add more offroad friendly tires to the CX Carbon, or chage the fork on the CX1 to make it rigid?

Giant Rapid Carbon. Looking at Giants many international sites I've noticed there bikes vary the most in different markets.

Not as expensive as a lot of bikes here but I just got this earlier this year and absolutely love looking at it. Then again, I enjoy riding it more.

A little more towards the MTBey side. This Bianchi Project 5 would be considered a rigid 29er nowadays but back in the early 1990s it was called a cross bike, which is the precursor to the hybrid bike.

Looking at these bikes, one obvious observation is that outside state-side, there are so many more options for a hybrid. Why is that? When I was looking at upgrading from my Scott SUB 20 a year ago, there aren't that many options. It's even more limited if you're looking at something lighter (say, ~20lb) or CF frame. Trek had, for some reason, stopped making the FX7.9 for 2012. So, to fellow bikeforums devotees outside of US, are higher end hybrid more popular/common there? I know the mentality here, even at my LBS. When I mentioned I was looking at a higher end hybrid, the recommendation from the sales rep was "why don't you get a road bike with drop bar?" I ended up with a Sirrus Limited which is a great bike but I wish I had this thread as a reference!

would love a CF bike, but man there's so many other more important things that I would need to put $2K towards.
