2012 Trek FX 7.2 Question: GP5 Ergon grips

https://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gp5

Will these fit? With all the topics that I have come across about the Trek FX 7.2 and the weirdness of their bars, I am at a loss trying to figure out which is which

Not to mention the GP5 has 2 different sizes which is another thing that I have to worry about...if anyone has insight on that also. Or do you think I should just call them to find out which one I need on my bike...assuming that they DO fit in the first place.

The two sizes I believe are just small and large. That doesn't refer to the fitment on the handlebars. That's just how big around they are. Small for people with smaller hands and large for larger hands. The other option is for a bike with grip shifts, standard or nexus/rohloff. You would need the standard size I believe as the 7.2 FX has trigger shifters.

Joelpatrick is right on the Ergon grip sizes, it's how large your hands are. On my 2010 Trek 7.2 the Ergons were a bit to large in internal diameter for the bars that came with it. I was able to use shims (cut-up soda pop can) to make them sort of fit. They'd still move around a little if I used the short bar ends though.

The "weirdness" of the FX bars is only on higher end models than the 7.2. You will have no problem changing out grips on a 7.2FX.

True! I have a 7.2 also and easily fitted ergon grips on it! Huge improvement too!
