Can't help thinking your Sawyer would look real nice with the Soma rack pictured in this thread.

I put a dropbar on my hybrid today just to see what it looked like, well it sucked so it's the end of that plan.

I'd bet you'd want a really long stem on many hybrids before a drop bar would work as they tend to have a short cockpit. and then, that would put your steering out over the axle, which is funky.

speaking of racks... I was thinking of getting the rather light and strong axiom journey for my globe.
    http://www.axiomgear.com/products/ge...eries/journey/

It would msotly be used for jandd 'grocery baskets' that I have. with mots racks I've used so far, my heels clip them, so I'm thinking they need to ride farther back, which this rack should do.

OK, at the risk of ruining my hybrids reputation here I'm showing my bike with drop bars. A little imagination needed here, I just wanted to get an idea of what it might look like.
Seeing other conversions I thought it was a good idea but not anymore, with this frames geometry and stem angle it looks wrong, opinions welcome but I'm not going though with it.
The money saved will go to building a proper MTB, I nearly pulled the trigger on a Niner mcr9 frame but got side tracked by a killer deal on a VooDoo Canzo FS 29er frame. There's no hurry seeing as I'm not able to ride yet.

Looks better at this angle, the ride position is nice but still not worth it. I'll just admire other peoples conversions.

This is a better option cutting 30mm off the flat bar. It makes a big difference and I could take another 20mm "total 50mm" off but this is more sensible leaving the FSA logo uncovered.

I luv ya bike BUT, something just isn't looking right there. This sounds rediculous, but with drops it looks "cramped" to me. This isn't possible as your stem is in the same position. Maybe it's just the angle of the dangle(?!)

Anyway, the 29er is the go.

Also, how's your clamp zone on your bars? Is it far enough in, for 25mm each site to be cut?

    PS. Love that red soil.

Actually sitting on it the contact points feel right, it's a 110mm stem also but when I look down at whats under me it feels odd. I think it's just not men't to be and best I forget it.
The flat bars will work as pictured with 30mm cut each end, there's more clamp area than riser bars.

It's debatable whether human evolution is a good thing but it's working for your bike, looks better than ever

Sadly it's snowing lightly outside and heavy in the mountains. I'm hanging to do some climbing with it but that will have to wait for a few months I guess. I will try to give it a bash on the flats later today if the snow eases . To be honest I won't know if it's quicker as I don't have a computer on it, and haven't for a few years so I can't make a comparison. I'm hoping the tyres will give a "crisp" (???) feeling on the road when climbing, and smooth fast feeling when descending, although descending fast isn't my priority on this bike.

These changes are supposed to make my mountain road touring more pleasent. The stem is a little shorter and at right angle with my fork hence maybe about 17 deg, instead of horizontal to the road as the previous one was set up.
