Most of the tubes I've bought lately have a range of sizes they can be used for just as they do on jbooker82's DS. So I would think you would be able to use your wife's tubes.

Your 26" tubes aren't going to fit without severe stretch, assuming they are MB size.
There's about 5 different 26" sizes that vary considerably in diameter.

I broke my own rules and put used tubes that had been in 700x35 tires into a pair of new 700x32's, the tubes were quite stretched out and I had a hard time getting them to stay in the smaller tire. other than that, you can get away with quite a lot. most tubes are designed for a pretty wide range of tire sizes. absolutely critical however, is not using the wrong valve type. a presto valve inner tube should not be used in a rim drilled for shrader valves, and a shrader valve simply won't fit into the hole for a presto.

Cheap adaptors are made where you can use presto valve tubes on schrader valve rims.
