Out with the old and in with the new

My wife and I have been riding since college days in the late 60's. So while we have ridden for a long time we are not great riders. That said, after retirement five years ago we decided to move to Central Fl from Maine. Here we can ride almost everyday. Back in 95 we purchased a couple of Mongoose Crossway 850 hybrids for roads around our home. They were to be our back up bikes with not much use as we mostly road mtn bikes in Acadia National Park. In the early 2000's we discovered rails to trails and have riding paved versions as much as possible. Currently the mtn are only used for trips back to Maine and Canada. Well the Crossways are a little long on tooth (just finished 2012 with over 7000 miles), so just before Christmas we decided to look for a couple of replacements. The lbs here in Dunnellon, Fl sells giant and the owner is super great to deal with. So we ordered a couple of Escape RX 0's as replacement bikes and hoping they will be here later this week. At 63 I feel like a kid on Christmas eve

EXCELLENT, my wife had a Goose Crossway 450 we picked up used for very cheap and it turned out to be a great machine for her first "non MTB" in many years.
The Giant's sound like great bikes and like us, it's nice to have a awesome LBS to. ENJOY!

Cool! Those Giants are great bikes and you'll love'em!

You did tell your sweetie you have no intentions of trading her in for a younger model though -I hope!

In getting ready for the new bikes I replaced the old hitch rack bar. Don't want any scratches on the new rides. I decided on the Kuat NV. It's a little pricey and maybe a little overkill on a smart car. But it works great and I can use it on the rest of the fleet. Here are a couple of pics with the trusty and somewhat rusty Crossways. Hope this works.

You'll love the Escapes. My wife has a 2012 Escape 1W, and she loves it.

Enjoy!
