Buying a used aluminum frame? Age concerns?
Hey guys,
I am looking at picking up a Trek FX to get into the sport, i'm looking used just make sure I put the time into biking and like it then maybe i'll pick up an even better bike down the road. Based on reading around here that seems to be what many of you suggest.
I have sights on a 7.2fx on Criagslist, I can't identify the year likely 2007-2009. Are there additional concerns on a used aluminum bike if it happens to be older like a 2007? I believe I can get it cheaper than he states but I don't want to go this route then be dumping money into fixes.
Take a peek.

Any input would be helpful,
-Ben

The bike is six years old and never sold for more than $400 new. I'd say he's overpriced for any time of year. Tires and grips degrade over time. You can still buy a new hybrid for that kind of money. Not a great one - but something very similar to whats for sale.

LBS price seems to be over 500-550 on a '13 7.2.
$250 feels a bit better, you still think that's too high? Maybe when there is more volume prices will go down? Maybe he is price matching this other 7.2 out there (https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...566492279.html) $380!
