Recommendations for $300-400 bikes
I have a Merlin road bike, but my neck and back have not been cooperative with the road bike posture recently, so it's fallen into disuse and I into the lounge chair over the last year or two. Additionally, my 15 and 19 year old sons want to begin "biking with dad." I would no longer characterize myself as athletic, but my sons are beasts and could likely outlast me any day of the week.
Any recommendations for entry level hybrids that would primarily be used for rail trail and road for both recreation and exercise for under $400? I'll likely trade in the Merlin.

Why not just tweak what you have? Put on a higher rise stem, rotate the bars up and back?
