Any Cannondale Quick CX-1 Owners?

I was cruising through the bike shop when I saw a Quick CX-1 with disc brakes. I had to pick my self up after I looked at the price, but the bike looks solid. Is this bike worth the jump over the other Quick models? This bike has the discs that Cannondale labels, right?

This bike is right up there with the Escape RX series. I might have to schedule a test-ride in my future!

Thanks!

Fred

The CX-1 is basically the older style Bad Boy Ultra with different paint, internal cable routing, and clearance for wider tires. The extra cost is for the HeadShok front end. I've got 2 BBU's and an F600(MTB version with different paint and 26" wheels) and absolutely love the bikes.

That said, you're basically paying for the front end and frameset. Rest of the bike is mostly Deore. Brakes are nice, wheels are ok,but nowhere near the spec of my bikes. Meh.

They're really nice bikes,as I said I love mine. Would look for a clean used model with better bits, but would def go with that over the rest of the CX lineup.

Ok, I think I get what you are saying. This might be why one other LBS owner steered me away from the mid to upper end Quicks when I looked at bikes last fall. I need to get more familiar with the Cannondale line. It seems like the models that R.E.I. carries differ a little from what a straight Cannondale dealer has in their racks. One of the reasons I love the forum is because there is such a wealth of information available.

I'll do some more looking at the Cannondales. I still have my eye on the Giant line since I have come to appreciate my Escape 3.

Hey Dynaryder, I notice that your sig has a Novara Buzz listed. My understanding of the Novara line is that they are probably a major maker frame with components selected by R.E.I. Am I right or wrong? How is the quality of those bikes in your opinion?

Should be the same models. It is possible they have leftovers. I've seen bikes 3-4 years old at REI(generally pricier models that didn't sell).

Well,my Buzz is the old 26" wheeled aluminum one,but I have two Novaras in my stable and have owned 6 others. Not too happy with what they did to the Safari and FlyBy(cheaped them out),and not cool with them speccing straight blade alloy forks on a couple models, but overall they are quality bikes. My Safari has well north of 10k miles on it;it's been through many winters(3 blizzards),has hauled lots of groceries, and even did polo duty, and it's been stone-axe-reliable. You're right as to their origin;the current FlyBy is made by Tern, for example. I wouldn't hesitate to get another;would've gotten a Zealo if it wasn't for the alloy fork.

Spec and price wise,I'd say the current Buzz is a better deal than the Marin Muirwoods.

My wife has a CX-1 that we picked up last month and I have a Quick SL-1 we got at the same time. She really loves the CX-1 and I've taken it for a ride or 2 myself and think it's a nice bike. She had an older Specialized Crossroads so the difference for her is night and day.

Cannondale Quicker?

I was gonna buy a 2014 Quick CX1, but found a smoking deal on a complete, NOS 2002 Cannondale F3000SL CAAD5. Now, all the Bad Boy parts are moving-over to the former Volvo Team XC racer, for a final build somewhere between 17-18 pounds. The F3000SL has wispy, pencil seatstays and huge rear clearance, so I'll be running Clement LAS 700x33 tires with Mavic C29ssmax 1700g wheels. The front has about 1-2mm clearance. Here is the acquisition photo....final build coming soon:

The 2016 model has some upgraded components (SLX), Schwable tires & is $100 cheaper. Still paying for the front end and frameset, but getting closer. And the front end is nice.

Hey, what can I say? I have been searching for the most sought-after, 1999-2003 Cannondale CAAD5 hardtail(F900SL/F1000SL/F2000SL/F3000SL/F5000SL).....since 2008! The ultra-rare, 2006-only, BB30 F4000SL Optimo(Siemens Team) would be the ONLY exception.....but I have not seen one for sale anywhere, since 2009.

Question CX1 or Bad Boy2

My old flat bar was a 2005 Giant Cypress CX, and I miss it badly! Anyways I have a Trek Crossrip, whoops! So after a small multi day tour come spring I'll sell the Crossrip (having 3x drop bar bikes is redundant) and I will either get a 2016 Quick CX1 or a Bad Boy2. Yes I could dump a bunch of money into the Crossrip to make it a flat bar... but ohh that head shock.

Any opinions on why a bad boy over the cx1, or a cx1 over a badboy? As far as I can see the major difference will be geo. I ride enough mix, that either Geo has wins and losses. Bad boy has a fat 31.6 seat post, CX1 being 27.2
