I swapped out the factory lead weight tires and put on Schwalbe Marathon Supremes. Lost 1.8 lbs. My bike is now down to 23.8 lbs. I could lose more if I swapped out my heavy Azonic platform pedals, but I like 'em. Took a quick spin around the block and the acceleration is better and it takes less effort to maintain speed. I'll know more tomorrow when I have time to take it out for a longer ride.

I also ordered some bling. Ordered a red Deity seat post collar and a new Thomson seatpost.

edit: forgot to mention I didn't change the tire size. I kept it 700x32

I ordered a slightly larger seat bag, a better Kryptonite lock, and some new lights for the GF's bike. I've got upgrade fever!

I purchased new Ergon grips. They are far more comfortable than the grips that came with the bike.

I finalized my Cateye Strada cadence installation. The cadence sensor couldn't see the magnet when mounted on the frame, I had to shim it by a lot.



It's not the most elegant solution, and these photos are from the work in progress (it's actually aligned better now), but it's gonna do for the rest of the season. I used 2 layers of plexiglas, heated it to give it a curve similar to the frame, filed the edges and added a layer of electric tape on the back to prevent scratches. But it still wasn't enough, so I added a layer of pipe insulation foam, painted black. First suitable thing my eyes came upon in the shed.

To prevent wires rubbing and wearing under the tube, I slid them into a short lenght of wire loom.

I also have a Cateye cadence sensor and I added a rare earth magnet to the inside of the pedal spindle in lieu of the provided magnet. This increased the range of the sensor considerably. They make the precise size needed. If one magnet doesn't do the trick, keep adding them but probably one will do the trick. If I ever do it again, I'll get one that has a hole in it for removal purposes.

I also added a rare earth magnet to the spoke magnet that triggers the speed sensor.

I installed a Quadlock case on my Iphone with bike mount. I use it for mapping and listening to podcast while riding.

It can be battery hungry on long rides so I added the bar top bag with external battery.

When I bought my JBC frameset I didn't have the correct headset so went to a lbs and we put some used different headset parts together so I could ride it the coming weekend. Today I fitted a genuine JBC headset.

Also took the to short road bike chain off for a longer correct length one.

Cleaned lubed and polished my Hybrid and MTB as I leave them outside and sadly over the weekend, a typhoon hit and they were throw around a fair bit. I'm surprised they have no damage as the Cannondale, I had forgotten to lock up.
I'd gone away for the weekend and didn't believe the typhoon was going to hit with such force. The location of our city is inland and the suburbs are usually hardly affected, hence not putting them inside. I've learnt a lesson.

i had flip the stem and lower it by one spacer down. Then I add a new Cateye with cadence sensor+out of front bracket.And asked my nephew to pose with it after testing.felt wonderful!

The decals are actually the original ones which came on the Cannondale Bad Boy frame. My bike is a 2007 model.

...we went out and bought a new "mate" for my Crosstrail, my wife's clunker of a "comfort bike" was sold and I got her a new Specialized Vita Sport, much nicer, and my bike is a lot happier now...

I created a new cadence sensor shim, the previous version didn't work that well (like I expected, but it degraded faster than I thought)... the foam slowly collapsed, the readings first got intermittent, then I lost the signal.

So I used a carbon fiber...



...sticker sheet to wrap my new shim, still made from a leftover plexiglass sheet, heated and shaped as a flattened "C".

Also, rear rack.



It's a cheap no brand name "made in Asia" seatpost mount rack, rated for about 20 pounds. Should be more than enough for now, since I usually don't need to carry more than my U-lock and a lunchbox. Attached my new rear light to the rack, so it can still be visible.

I haven't been happy with the gearing on my Bad Boy for quite a while,. Mainly because it had a mountain bike cassette. Well I had a spare road cassette and decided to whack it on. Well it solved my dilemma. I'm as happy as a pig in poo poo.

Said goodbye. She was stolen from in front of the grocery store (chained up, with a 'security guard' standing 15 feet away, in broad daylight- life sucks). I had just finished building this sweet '85 Specialized Stumpjumper into a city-bike. Took me months to find all the right parts, original Saturae wheels, etc etc- you know the drill. Working on my next bike already- an early-90's Trek 700 Multitrack hybrid. I like it so far- we'll see how it shapes up. Funny thing is that it has a clean serial # since it's from a police auction and has been stolen once (at least!) already.

I've been working on my new to me Sirrus Comp, an '05 model. Added Shimano M530 pedals, Specialized lock on grips, small Specialized composite bar ends, and a mount for my Cateye Strada C (to switch between bikes). Also added a 135mm stem, to get the bars up about an inch. Set at a higher angle, it changed the 125mm stem/bar placement perfectly, without changing reach.

Currently waiting for a Shimano 11-30 cassette from CRC in the UK (11-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-30) to make that 50-34 double more functional. (Replacing a 12-25) ....... Hopefully, the 105 RD will work with it - it looks like it will work fine.

Next on my wish list, a Brooks B-17, reg or Imperial. (However, no hurry, as the Body Geometry Milano is quite comfy.) And, Schwalbe Marathon Supremes in 32 and 35 to improve the ride for my old bones. (that will have to wait for these 28mm tires to wear out, though)

I'll also be keeping an eye out for a nice lightweight rear rack.

Slid a set of Kool Stop Salmon pads onto the OEM carriers of my Sirrus. The new old pads were pretty hard. Used the V2 pads, and they are a lot thicker than my other Kool Stop pads, and the OEMs. A little cable readjustment, and I'm ready to stop.

Cleaned the chain and both derailleurs while it was on the stand..... (just exterior)
