If it rides ok and is not stolen, I'd think that was ok for a two year old bike. I am sure there will be alternative opinions here

Offer him 2 crisp 100 dollar bills, visually. You can always bargain from there. Honestly, around here 300 wouldn't be bad, especially with disc brakes. If it really does look like new......

I can see the rear DR is Altus, even Target has a few bikes with those. Cheap crank & suntour forks, and I would bet promax disc. You would be better off with tektro rim brakes.. My guess would be the MSRP was in the high three hundreds, and probably sold in the low 300.00 dollar range. If the disc were anything other than promax, I would agree with you..

The value is in the eye of the beholder, I agree with the two crisp hundred dollar bill idea. If he says no, check back in a week or two.. Nice find Wanderer.. Also you were asking about the small chain rings, the gears inches with the way its set up is 22.5 low to 107.5 high with very small increments.. for fine shifting, I had done my home work..

Just got back from my ride, managed 20 mph on a long flat at 75 rpm's.. still had 2 gears left on the rear. The chain stays in line on the big ring & last 4 on the cassette, like wise, it stays right around the middle of the cassette & middle chain ring when doing about 14 mph (my normal). This is the first time I really got to air it out because of the rain. Soon as I heard that click from my left shifter, (IT WAS ON THE BIG RING) its really close to shifting the rear. But that was what that SLX crank was made for. It has took sometime to dial the FX in, but it is so smooth riding.. those 32's plus carbon fork, iso/zone bars, grips, SSR saddle, Monostay rear damper. like riding with suspension. All under 23 pounds.. Sorry for the long read, but it is really awesome.

Offer him $200 and go from there. For $350 you could get yourself a brand new bike that's on sale.
