What size Giant Escape City for a 5'3 Woman?
Hi,
I tacked this question on to the end of a previous thread but havnet gotten an answer, so I started a new one w/ the subject line as my heading in hopes of getting some answers. Sorry if this looks redundant.
Im 5'3 107lbs and purchased a 2013 womens giant escape city bike today over the phone since they didnt have any in stock.
The lady on the phone said Im between a XS and Small size based on the chart and suggested the XS.
Yesterday I went to a LBS and he said I was test riding a 2013 W Giant Escape 2 w/ an 18" frame. The frames are identical on the two bikes, but when I look at the measurement chart it says an 18" is a medium frame: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...5912/#geometry. I just called back the LBS where I test rode and he took a second look and said the Med was a 17-18" and confirmed I was on that size and that it looked good.
So, any suggestions on what to get? Should I ask them not to proceed with the order and try to find some other bike stores with them in stock?
Thanks!

Height alone doesn't tell the full picture, body shapes are all different, but I would've figured you'd be a XS or S too, like the original suggestion. The best way to know for sure is to test ride it, and test ride multiple sizes. I don't know how long your test ride was, but bikes that are too big or too small can feel just fine if you are only riding around a flat parking lot for 5 mins.
See if you can work with them to make sure they sell you the size that fits you best. If they insist that they cannot, I'd shop around. The bike you want is a great bike and you're gonna love it, you just need to make sure you get the right size.
