Lightbulb Giant Cypress DX W vs LX W

I'm trying to decide btwn which model Giant Cypress I should purchase. I've heard so many different opinions. What is the main difference btwn the models and would someone like myself who hasn't been on a bike in ages be able to tell the difference? I'm 5'2, just turned 40 and thought it would be fun to go on some "short" leisurely rides. I won't be lifting the bike or towing any kids etc. I may want to add a basket for my 10 lb dog to ride to the dog beach and back. I would love some insight and know I will get honesty on the forums vs many of the LBS I have been to

Also, is there a place to buy this bike online? Taxes are soooo high where I live. Thanks!!!

There are 3 models Plain Cypres, the DX & the LX
plain Cypress 24 speed no suspension and no handlebar angle adjustment
Cypress DX 24 speed suspension on front and adjustable bar angle
Cypress LX 24 speed, front and seat suspension and bar adjust...

I was looking at the plain Cypress...but i didn't want the suspension so i went with the Quick 5

Why do a lot of people not want suspension? Sorry, I'm a complete noob to bikes but am eager to find the right bike. I looked at the DX but wasn't sure about the differences btwn the models. Thanks so much for clearing this up. I didn't look at the Quick 5 bc I want a bike that I can ride in a more upright position.

The suspension takes a part of the energy away or the inertia away giving less power to the pedals...I guess it really depends on where you will ride... If on paved roads or trails all the time why do you need suspension? Maybe differnt pressure in the tires or a fatter tire will work for you... I wanted more of a upright position road bike... I have added a 3" steering stem riser and waiting for a adjustable steering neck adaptor to raise the position of my bars even more. I will do this until i get a bit more fit and then may revert back to a lower bar position...the 2 option only cost me $55.00 so it wasn't a wallet crusher...Keep in mind that the bikes like Trek, Giant and Cannondale that have suspension usually have a lock so you can turn the suspension "OFF" and the suspension in the seat posts are easily replaced by a rigid post. I am a Noob also ... don't worry, there are a lot of people on here that will have a lot of information also... Don't be too intimidated... It's only a BICYCLE...LOL...Buy what you feel comfortable on and fits you and your budget, Even one that looks prettier... If you like the bike more you will tend to like riding it more right... Same as a car , motorcycle etc....
