Is a Hybrid fit the same as road bike fit??

I am currently riding a Raleigh Venture 3 comfort bike.
I test rode a couple of Raleigh Hybrids the other day , and
one I really liked. The Cadent ft 0.
The Cadent size was a 54cm, Had the seat forward , but not
all the way. But the stand over height was touching plus a little.
The comfort bike I am riding is a size 18 in. Seems to fit just
fine. I am very comfy on it. I want another bike or two.

I want a cadent to start with, so should my stand over have more clearance,
and go with a smaller one? And is 54 cm on a fitness hybrid like a 54cm on
a road bike???? Just wondering , because I would like to get a road bike that
I can load up with rack's and Panniers front and back.
How would a comfort bike 18 inch translate to a flat bar road bike in cm.???

Thanks for any feedback.

Rob B.

I would recommend not trying to "convert" sizes but to match your body measurements to a particular frame.

Start with your height, cycling inseam, and reach.

Match those numbers to top tube length and head tube height. These numbers relate to how far and how high you want your bars in relation to your seated position. Very rarely will standover height be a problem when you use this criteria.

There is also a fitting subforum you can use. Good luck!

Best way is to actually get fitted but also make sure you are comfortable on it....Some LBS can fit and some claim they can fit you for a bie so maybe get a few opinions and not just from a Schmuck that seems knowledgeable and works there part time...
