KTM Life Road 2014 vs......

Hi mates, I 'm thinking of buying a new trekking/cross bike and I liked the new KTM Life Road (https://www.ktm-bikes.at/bikes/trekki...b2138c4bed7cb3). I want it for every day use in the city but also for exercise. What do you think? Is it a good choice (at this price) or should I look for another on (maybe a CUBE)? Thanks.

<generically> Nothing deeper than a Motor bike brand name painted on by some of the same companies
that paint on a lot of other brands names .. very few companies make the frames ,
and ship to hundreds of bike importers with their names on them ..
some companies CAD design a different bend , tube shape, is sent over the net to the factories,
to make a different look ..

Do the comparisons on the component parts picks ..
you would find at similar price bike of same type with the same component Mix ..

because the component companies dont sell cheaper to one company than the other ..

read the fine print on service after the sale.. and see if you like the dealer that will provide that service..

this page suggests a awful lot of places sell the brand , do any of them service them ?
or is it a Generic department store deal and selling is all they do.

Thessalonian....

If you are really in Greece, I don't know how many dealers there are near you but the most important thing about buying a bike is...."fit"!!! Make sure to ride as many different brands/styles of bike as you can. You will probably come across 1 or 2 bikes that fit you well and you'll know it because it'll just feel better when you're on them. You can change little things like the saddle, stem riser, angle of stem, etc. but make sure the bike feels good underneath you.

Aside from that, just like Bob said....comparitively inspect drive components. Most of today's bikes have decent stuff on them already. Even today's cheapest stuff is still quite good & more than sufficient for today's rec riders. Just make sure you never lost sight of "fit". Don't let a color-scheme make you buy a bike that doesn't fit you as well as another.

That's not a bad bike. One of the bike shops here in Kyoto stocks KTM Bicycles.
They don't have any of the lower priced ones, but do have the Full Suspension MTB and Electric Assist MTB models. They are pretty good looking bikes and well equipped.

The shop is interesting. He also has the new Panasonic Electric Assist MTBs with carbon fibre battery packs. He told me Panasonic is about to launch a much lighter and cheaper model very soon. The older models were a bugger to ride if the battery went flat, but now they just convert to a normal MTB and you can pedal like normal.
