who makes a womans fitness bike with step through frame
My wife is approaching 60 years old. She currently has a Trek FX-2 (19" WSD but not step through) which she loves. She is thinking that at some point she will want a step through and possibly move up a step in components also. Trek does not make the FX 7.3 in that size of bike. Does anyone know which manufacturers make a bike of that style in that size. Thanks

Moved from Introductions- that forum is meant more for speed dating chats than the long walk on the beach this thread will likely become

Trek makes the 7.1 FX Stagger, in a step thru... If needed, I'm sure the local store can upgrade it to 7.2 (or above) level.
edit:
Another alternative: buy the Stagger, and switch all of the 7.2 gear over from her existing bike to the new one - then sell the old bike on CL. Also put the new tires on the old wheels which go on the Stagger
Now you have an instant 7.2 FX Stagger

Check out the Cannondale Adventure. It has a step through frame, comfortable seat with a suspension seat post, and 2 models come with a quick adjust stem.
Also, Schwinn Signature series (only sold at LBS) has a Streamliner which is a step through, with the crank forward.

My wife is 58 years old and has osteoporosis. She is thinking at some point in the next 10-15 years she might need a step through. She likes the FX-2 but thought if we are getting a different bike we might as well go with an upgrade at the same time. Trek does make the FX-2 in a 20"stagger but the FX-3 they only go up to a 17.5 in the stagger frame. It gets pretty spendy to upgrade components.

I have a 2014 WSD Trek FX 7.3 stagger. It's a 17.5" and fits me (at 5' 8") just fine. As much as I love my 7.3, if I had it to do over again, I might go with the 7.4 to get the carbon fork. I'm about the same age as your wife (okay, I'm a whole year younger), and find that I appreciate anything that absorbs vibration and shock (well, short of going with an actually front suspension).
Anyway, I know the 7.4 isn't a cheap upgrade, but it might be worth it in the long run. Especially if you get the fit you want (the website says a 20" stagger is available) and a smoother ride.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. We will check to see if the 7.4 is available in a 20" stagger.

Stagger frame report
Please do report how it turns out. I am looking at exactly the same thing. I'd like the fx 7.4 but I'd like the stagger frame!

Specialized Vita might be an option? It comes with a step-through frame.
Specialized Bicycle Components
My wife bought a 2013 Specialized Vita with the traditional frame and likes it. Very nice bike. Attractive, too.

Well, they sure are making things difficult! The Specialized Vita is similar in specs to the FX 7.2, so that won't really be an upgrade. The FX 7.3 has the stagger, but only up to 17.5". (Sorry to get your hopes up about the FX 7.4; I was looking at an outdated page.)
But here's a possibility: the Fuji Absolute Stagger 1.5. Carbon fork, Acera/Deore derailleurs. Might be worth checking out.
IMO, I think the companies are shooting themselves in the foot. They should be migrating the stagger frames upwards, not discontinuing them -- aging boomers will want upper-end step-through bikes! And on real hybrids, not just "comfort" bikes!

Yes that is so true. I had a mountain bike for years, just because. I NEVER rode on a "mountain." It was stolen, so the next bike I chose was a Trek Navigator. It's great for rail trails or the local greenway BUT I need something more but no curled handle bars for me though. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the headsup on the Fuji. It looks good on paper. The closest dealer I have is 70 miles and he doesn't have one in stock I've tried other dealers up to 100 miles away and still haven't found one. Apparently there are none available at this time but it is possible I may still be able to order one this year.

I found the Fuji Absolute 1.5 Stagger for $625 in WI. I also found a Breezer Greenway LX Stagger with a Carbon fork and Deore derailleur for $575
