Need some advice concerning my new handlebar on my hybrid.
My question is about the last three pics. Can the brake be mounted closest to the horns? There is a gap between the shifter indicator and bar where it looks like it was designed to slide over the brake bracket? Will the shifter paddles get in the way of the brakes? They don't make this handlebar anymore and I don't have the tool that keeps one from over tightening and cracking the carbon bar. I'm very leary about messing with it so I would like the opinions of other hybrid owners.
I like the isozone grips but they don't truly fit. The grips overhand the har by a bit and I would like the bar to not be so wide.
I love the horns and have noticed a speed boost using them on a1a. Today I was holding 22mph with a e/se wind at 20mph. With the old bar there was no way I could have held that pace in the past. If you come across the bar imo buy it.
Thanks for the advice.

I googled and most (including myself) have it the same as you. Some though, have it the other way for single finger use. I'd doubt you could correctly or safely with your bar design. Brake Setup: Give your brakes the (single) finger - Boise mountain biking | Examiner.com

You can try removing the optical indicators on the shifters. I am not sure if Tiagra have the covers but it is worth a few seconds to check. If not, maybe your shop can get you some? Just remove the two screws. That will allow you to move everything more inboard but you will lose the visual indicators (a plus, IMO.)
Short reach brake levers can help you also. Look for 1.5 and 2 finger designs. BMXers use em a lot but its hard to find them in pairs
Removing the OGDs will allow you to swap the shifter and brake lever positions also.

I think you are asking whether the brake and shifter positions can be swapped with the brake pushed inboard as much as possible. If so the only way to find if it works is to try it. Assuming the shifter cables are long enough the only potential conflict I see is the brake handle extending over the shifter. As long as you can keep everything separate and functional it should work.
If you haven't done this before my recommendation would be to let your lbs do it. A good bike mechanic will have the knowledge to make those two controls fit together and work and will have any needed parts at hand.
Nice looking bike.

If you want the OGDs, you can try something like DiaCompe tech 77 levers (SS-5 FTW)
For those with the same issue but with V brakes, Shimano do make a V brake lever compatible with I-Spec. Just be sure to know if its A or B.

It is not possible due to the OGDs. The OGDs are meant to be removable. Some units have a cover inside the shifter when you open it. In the mountain range, SLX on includes it. Deore needs to be ordered.

A few things to consider: OGDs are more useful on triples with multiple shifting patterns. On double setups with largely sequential shifting, OGDs are less useful.
Maybe an inline OGD will work? They stopped making them when Shimano went under the tape for the cables

I love those bars - exactly what I want (but have not been able to find) for my bike. What are they and where can I get them or something similar?

That bar is a ***** to find mate. I got lucky and a very nice lady in OK sold it to me in the original box for $125. Sticker on the box is for $220 which is a little pricy. I emailed bontrager to see if they had any hanging around before I got the one I have and they said no. Do a Google search for bontrager sattilite elite carbon trekking handlebar. Google shopping had one listed from a bike shop surprisingly but didn't check to see if they really had it. I was looking for images because my Lbs had never seen that bar before and didn't know the right position for the horns.
It really is a nice bar and it's sad it has been discontinued. My hands fit perfectly on the horns and there's no slipping even though there is a high gloss finish.
If you get the bar I want to see a picture of your bike.

^^^ Thanks very much for the info - I will keep my eyes open for one now that I know what I am looking for. Do you know of any similar bar from Bontrager or any other brand? I have been toying with the idea of end bars, but this seems a much more elegant and effective solution for my needs.
Your bike looks great - enjoy.

Holy poop your bike looks screaming fast....standing still!
So forgive me for not being versed in the more esoteric aspects of trekking...but where do your hands go on those inner prongs? I'm trying to picture what it would be like to have my hands there but its seems like I'd have next to no steering leverage.

You know those grips are rather wide. That's actually a good thing except when you need every inch of bar space. If those grips overhand the bar, you couldn't even add bar ends if you wanted. I like long bar ends pointed straight ahead for more aero position although your bar has a pretty good thing going with the horns. You might want to try grips that are less wide. I recently bought Ergon Grip P-1Mg grips (gripshift version?) 3 3/4" wide and they are definitely shorter than your average grip--but wide enough for my hand.

Your right I spent 5min just looking at it in wonder. Is it real? Are there water bottles on the fork? The whole step is so crazy it's cool. Not my kit setup but dang is it unique. I'm nicknaming that the Black Widow bar. Thx for sharing that! (=
